So i am still learning how to sharpen knives. I have not been able to get one of my knives very sharp. I looked at the tip and the tip essentially looks like this /||||\, If this went to a point and the middle of the blade is the 2nd "|". So its as if i am sharpening one side at a smaller angle. Would that keep me from getting a sharp edge? even if i am using the sharpie trick and getting it all off as well as forming a burr each time i sharpen the side?

Thank for your help!

How wide is it? What kind of stone are you using?

Its very possible to have a FLAT/SQUARE edge, as dull as the spine/back of the knife ... and raise a burr on both sides

it just means you have more work to do with a coarse stone
Eventually you will grind enough metal way so its no longer flat/square but a V-like shape (or ^ like shape), so just keep working it.

Depending on how wide it is, it can take a couple hundred (or thousand) passes

Haha hope it's not thousands :p but I'm working between a 320 and 1k shapton stones. 1k mainly to get me for down. And I don't think it's super wide. Just if you look at the tip from the spine. The angle is way off when compared

I thibk ima try and reprofile it for the first time. It seems as if I am sharpening it at a crazy angle like 30 degrees

Wooooooooooo! Finally got this knife sharper then a butterknife!!! Never reprofile a knife but seemed it worked for this one
