Will Zero Tolerance ever make a 3" Hinderer Design folder?

I'll admit that I'm a smallish guy (5'4" 120lbs) and I usually EDC 3" knives. Anything bigger just feels out of place. Anything smaller seems wimpy. Does anyone have any knowledge on whether ZT/Kershaw will offer 3" Hinderer inspired folders in the future soon? It really frustrates me when they offer practically every size other than 3". And the closest folders near the 3" size are the lowest quality of the bunch. Seems like ZT is screwing me over!!! :(

Kershaw Cryo - 2.75" (china made)
ZT 0350 - 3.25" (liner lock)
ZT 0351 -3.25" (liner lock)
ZT 0550 - 3.50"
ZT 0551 - 3.50"
ZT 0300 - 3.75"
ZT 0301 - 3.75"
ZT 0560 - 3.75"
ZT 0561 - 3.75"
ZT 0200 - 4.00"

Heck, even Gerber Hinderer knives are all larger than 3"! Frustrates the heck out of me when the offer so many knives that are the same size. Guess the ZT community hates "small" knives? /rant

There was a similar thread on this. Thomas said he'd like to see one. I took that as a clue that one could be in the works. But they have a full plate and it will probable be a couple of years before one would be out. All JMO.

By the way I am 5'5" 125lbs and my 0350 is a perfect fit for me and the liner lock is damn near a frame lock. It is a tank. I love it.

I as well as several others I'm sure would dig a 3" version of the 056X series.

That would be the cats meow!!

I'm curious. Why is a 3.5" so much too big for you? One half inch makes all that much difference to you? I think both Rick Hinderer and ZT try to make knives that most people will want to see. No reason to think they are screwing with you.

For me, anything over 3" is illegal to carry regardless of my personal preference. I'm all for a smaller version of the 560 line, and the Cryo isn't quite up to snuff, nice though it may be for the price. Strict knife law states are the minority, but we're just as eager to throw handfuls of cash at companies for good products.

For me, it's not the blade length, but the overall size and heft that comes with larger blades. For me, the sweet spot, size-wise, is something about the of the Kershaw Mini Cyclone(had the ZDP Ti version), as it packs enough blade and heft to do heavier work without weighing down my pocket. It's a personl thing, I guess.

I'd love to see something in the 3" range also. Local law states anything anything above 3" is illegal to carry. Right now, I'm carrying the Clash. When I get the cryo, that'll be my edc.

I'm with y'all. I've got an 0560 on order, but I doubt I'll ever EDC it. I work in an office environment and a 3" blade is all I need.

Rhode Island and California. Note not to visit those states with a decent sized knife. Florida must be downright decent compared. Yes I can CCW but the 0551 is fine even without that. For the most part Florida is still a free state!

If ZT makes a 3" I will probably buy one of those too. Just for fun.

Honestly, Bill, for the kind of work I do a 3" knife is all this SoCal guy needs to carry. If I ever need more than that, I can always pull my BOB out of my vehicle and grab my RatManDu. ;)

Oh I understand. I'm (looks down) just compensating! :D

LOL, I'm female, so no need to compensate for anything :P But I agree with Folder Addiction, I can definitely tell the difference between 3" and 3.5"....
In and out of the.... pocket........

I'd love a 3" ZT/Hinderer

I guess it is personal preference, but we all know that personal preference has a lot to do with what people buy. It's kinda like asking: Why would you prefer a 3.5" knife over a 4"? Or why do you prefer a 4" blade to a 4.5" one? It's just 0.5" right? I think ZT knows that 0.5 inches can be a lot; heck they make knives in 0.25" increments!!!!! Just disappointing to see that there are SO many 4" knives out there when a lot of ("regular", non-knife enthusiasts) people only EDC 3". Made me a little ticked off when they decided the new 056X was going to be 3.75" as well. I was like: WTF! You guys already have a 3.5", 3.75" and 4" Hinderer ZTs!!!! Why another 3.75" blade? Doesn't make sense! The economy is down! The end of 2012 is coming! ZT's screwing me over!!! #^%$@$%&^!&$&^!!!!!! You get the rest. :D

BTW, I'm Asian as well. Not to be stereotypical or anything, but I have girl hands. That's right. So having a 4" blade is probably like having a 5" blade for most people. Just too big to fit in the hand and EDC well. I'm sure you can relate to that.

I would hazard a guess that most people don't need even a 3" blade for every day use. Most of us live in an urban environment so heavy duty needs like construction/farm etc. rarely would come up.

The cool factor of my 0550 makes me want to carry it and pull it out even if I have to make up an excuse. Not enough cool to make me lug it around though. I like to carry as little as possible every day. Hell I don't even like to wear underwear. Don't want a 1/4lb+ anything in my pocket daily, light and nimble for me.

So I would actually prefer a 2.75" 0560. Go head KIA make my day.
