Will Zero Tolerance ever make a 3" Hinderer Design folder?

I too would love to see a mini ZT (mini ZT/Hinderer even better)... 3" or maybe a bit less... 2.75" sounds good to me too.

Rhode Island and California. Note not to visit those states with a decent sized knife. Florida must be downright decent compared. Yes I can CCW but the 0551 is fine even without that. For the most part Florida is still a free state!

If ZT makes a 3" I will probably buy one of those too. Just for fun.

It's not that unpleasant here :D

I never took the time to check the other states with this semi-draconic length requirement, I thought there was more than just California and my home of Rhode Island (we had semi-legal prostitution and 16 year old strippers, but not 3.5" knives? lulz).

I'm all for a 3" ZT, it's a line I've always wanted to check out but am unwilling to risk carrying even a 3.25" blade (3 and 1/8" is as adventurous as I get) from a bad experience towards the end of high school with the police. Spyderco makes quite a few preimum knives of the 3" variety, so there's definitely a market for it. The Cryo would be a perfect starting place already.

Viktor Kilo, where in RI are you located? It's rare to see another Rhode Islander here on BF.

- MA is one of the worst states for knife laws. It's literally town by town, with the more restrictive towns having a blade limit of 2.5". I know that when I go there, I just bring a tiny knife since I can't possibly keep up with which town I'm driving through.

I'd also love to see a 3" ZT. The Cryo seems to be the closest, but a G10 scale would be preferable.

Tell me about it, my sister lives in Boston and the only knife I had that I could carry legally (Buck Vantage Pro small) I just gave away to my girlfriend. I never even took the time to look up what the laws are in other towns, but state law is either 4" or unrestricted, I can't remember. Now I will be sure to bring a smaller one no matter where I am in Mass.

I love the larger folders but there are so many times I wished for a more discreet carry and a sub 3" would be a hit. Kershaw/ZT working with Rick Hinderer would definitely make a hot seller for something that size. Yes, I'd buy a couple of Cryo but wont stop if ZT bring their version of it too. I realize this will not be a reality that soon but I'll wait just as I am wating for my 561. :)

LOL, I'm female, so no need to compensate for anything :P But I agree with Folder Addiction, I can definitely tell the difference between 3" and 3.5"....
In and out of the.... pocket........

I'd love a 3" ZT/Hinderer

lmao, that was good :D

I agree with the masses....A smaller ZT would be awesome!

I agree it would be cool, however it's been discussed before and Thomas has already said they've been working on it for a while (on here and facebook)...at least that's what he made it seem like.

Seems like ZT is screwing me over!!! :(
This is one of the dumbest things I've seen on here for a while. No wonder Thomas gets fed up with people on here. Again, I agree a nice 3" Hinderer/ZT knife would be sweet...but that statement is still dumb.

Hell, I'm 6'8", 260lbs with huge ape hands and I'd love to see a 3" 055x variant. A small Sebenza is the largest knife I've carried in the last 57 years and is perfect for all the jobs I expect a pocket knife to handle. I keep bigger knives in my tool bag for jobs that require a bigger tool.

I can see it now...

ZT0450 with Elmax or S35VN for a $150 price point. :D

A Zero Tolerance version of the XM-18 3" would be fantastic.

LOL, you aren't serious are you? Did I hit a nerve? Guess you didn't detect the sarcasm? The "/rant"? The "End of 2012" and etc? Of course ZT isn't screwing me over. Their product line just doesn't make sense to me. A quality 3" should have been done long ago, but they obviously don't cater to smaller knives seeing that their lines are generally 3.25" and up. ZT targets people who really "work" with their knives. No problem in that. I'm just surprised that they never considered making smaller knives yet. I mean virtually all of their knives are 3.5" and up, unlike other companies that I'm familiar with. Bet you can count the 3" and under knives that are being offered with one hand.

I think it's just the fact that they were geared towards military and first responder on inception. But now that they have gained so much popularity with the civilian market, these things will come to be. I don't know if KAI expected ZT to become such a desirable product with the general (us) market the demand has them scrambling to make us happy too. I feel they are doing a fine job at that with the new offerings and I,m sure more are to come. Patience young jedi.

Strider and Hinderer also cater to people that "work" with their knives as well, but they have 3" versions. And yes, the 3" knives are the newest in their respective lineups. I get it; companies need time. And I know that I probably wasn't the first to complain about ZT's bias towards large blades; I couldn't be. I think the consensus is that EDC knives are generally 2.5" to 3.5" right? Just a little ironic that knife-makers who would want their customers to EDC, ignore a large part of the EDC market. KAI is a pretty big company and shouldn't be slow to change. I think they'll come up with a 3" pretty soon. IMHO, they should just create "mini" lineages of their most popular models like Benchmade.

I'll join in and say I would like to see a 3" knife in the ZT family. I'm sure the knife would appeal to those who shy away from the longer blade lengths due to ridiculous knife laws.

I am all for a 2.75"-3.00" ZT knife! It would round out the line-up very nicely IMO.

California state law has no restrictions on folders, but prohibits concealed carry of fixed blades. Only exceptions are some particular city laws, but those are far and few.

Count me in for one or two 2.75" - 3" range ZT (preferably Hinderer design)! I carry a mini-grip, or my skyline daily for office and rotate out my 0350 and 0550. Thankfully 4" is legal limit here, but that's too big for office sheeple. 3.5" is pushing it.
Very true that many people are overlooked by Knife laws being less than width of palm in many states.
