William Henry T12 Superconductor. This is #67 of 100 made with bolsters of rare Copper/Niobium composite Superconductor material.

3" Spearpoint blade of ATS-34 with Tungsten DLC coating. Titanium frame, Snakewood scales and a Topaz thumb stud. Overall length: 7-1/8". Manufactured 2004. Purchased from WH in June, 2004.

From the William Henry Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/WHStudio/photos/?tab=album&album_id=413607927695):

"As the name implies, this material is remnant conductive wire from the super-collider project abandoned by the US Government in the 90's. Made from a matrix of niobium wires pulled through a copper core, superconductor was (going to be) used to move electricity in the particle accelerator. What a story! We were able to buy some of this material, and we use EDM machining to bias cut across the pattern and reveal the fine grain of niobium against copper.

We have used this unique material for several years, creating some really beautiful pieces."

There are also some photos of the raw Superconductor material on the Facebook page, but no longer any mention of the material on the William Henry website, since the material was and is scarce and they no longer offer it.

The Superconductor bolsters are difficult to photograph to capture their unique appearance. The color changes from a deep bronze to a pale copper color depending on the light, and the texture of the machining & polishing varies with the angle of view. Close up, the material looks like it has scales, yet is smooth to the touch. It's quite remarkable stuff!

The Tungsten DLC coating on the blade also varies in color/tone according to the light. The blade locks up solidly and is centered when closed.

A very cool knife and an excellent example of the artistry and craftsmanship that William Henry is known for.

New In Box with leather clip sheath as shown. Never carried, used or sharpened.

The blade has the WH mark on it. The box is marked "T12 -Superconductor / * Limited Edition of 100 */ 67".

SOLD.
