First let me say that there was no transaction, but he saw my WTB Recon Scout thread and made an offer. I asked him if he had pictures and he responded very quickly with them. Then, since I am mainly worried about the false edge being evenly ground, I asked him for pictures of that. He responds quickly once again, but the pictures do not show the entire false edge. So I ask him kindly if he could post another picture showing the full false edge and if his price is negotiable (cuz I was interested, everything looked great).

Replies "no--going to list it on e-bay, thanks." No picture.

I respond again asking for a picture and a link to the auction when he puts it up and this is his final response:
"HERE'S THE AUCTION

THE SPINE IS JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE KNIFE"

The "auction" is a listing on knifeforums and I still have no picture of the entire swedge.

Started off like it could be a promising transaction, quick responses and took pictures (which look good from what I can see). But then when I asked for a more specific picture and ask if the price is negotiable, things go downhill immediately...A bit fishy to me...Then he doesn't even list on ebay but instead puts it on knifeforums with a fixed price. A little confused here...

Maybe I've only been dealing with the best ebayers and great bladeforums members, but I wasn't impressed.

was not trying to be evasive

Going to send you a photo of the entire spine..You will see it's just like the rest of the knife.Brand new.

Sent you 11 Photos-you kept asking for more and then wanted to cut the price to boot.

As far as being "a bit fishy"???---Not sure what that means..

I know what I think it means--and if your questioning my honor--be glad we never meet face to face.

Dr.Bill Martin

your photo is enroute

I'm getting tired of these nit picky threads.

This particular section of BF is for good or bad transactions only.

Not for snubs, unaswered emails, arguments, misunderstandings or anything else that has to do with a non-transaction. Drop it.

I'm glad you did send those photos and you were very quick about it. If someone were to ask me for more pictures I would gladly send them. I asked once for specific pictures, and your pictures did not show me the complete false edge. Am I just supposed to forget about it and throw down my money?

As far as wanting to cut the price, I was only asking if it was negotiable, a simple yes or no question, I hadn't even started bargaining yet. Is this another thing that I should just not ask about? You hadn't said your price was firm, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. You said no, and that's fine. What's there to get so angry about?

I'm just giving my honest opinion. I did say good about you (quick responses with pictures), and there were some things that confused me (told me you would list to ebay, but didn't, after asking if negotiable you more or less ignored me). Sorry, but that's the way things went in my opinion. I don't feel I asked too much, but then again that may be because I wouldn't mind taking a few extra pictures if someone requested.

BTW, physical threat over the internet? Very classy.
Good luck with your sale! :)

I was under the impression I could post my experiences whether or not the transaction completed? I think it's good to get an idea of what it's like to deal with a person on the forums, so I posted my thoughts. It has to do with a potential transaction, so I didn't think it would be off-topic.

Anyways, sorry, I don't come by these parts that often so I wasn't aware these threads were common and annoying. If a mod could delete this that'd be fine.

They don't delete threads. As far as starting a thread about this issue, well I guess that can be debated whether it was worthy posting.Personally, if you felt he wasn't cooperative,I would have just went my seperate way.It sounded like he supplied you with alot of pictures, and I'm guessing he just lost patience with you.

The post here is fine; that is what the forum is for.

However, it is best if you can, to try to work things out via email, or even by using a telephone, prior to posting a bad experience here.

I will keep that in mind. I figured after the second ignored request, we were done working things out. The experience wasn't all bad, he was very responsive until he lost patience. He did take lots of pictures and sent them quickly, though many were redundant.

I'm sure if you don't bug him too much, everything will go very smoothly :)

man aint that the truth lol,

I sold Dr. Bill a Temperance recently. That was confusing too. He paid quickly, kept in touch, and posted some feedback when he got the knife (albeit in the exchange forum rather than here).

The transaction was utterly confusing in its smoothness and civility. I'm still confused as to why it didn't all fall apart. :D :p

I agree with Guyon; Dr. Bill bought a Ranger from me. The transaction could not have been smoother. He paypal'ed the $$ before I had time to email him back. Excellent guy to deal with.

I thank you all for your kind words.I try to be as nice as possible.I do not take kindly to someone insulting my honor or saying that "things are fishy".

I do not lie, cheat or steal--and do my best to make sure I treat people with the same respect I myself would like to receive.

Anyone that has had dealing with me--will tell you that.

Thanks again for all the nice words from the men I have done business with on this fine forum..

Sincerely

Dr.Bill Martin

It's not so much that these threads are annoying, it's just the "you owe me" mentality that they bring. If you don't like the way someone is treating you, all you have to do is ignore them and not email them again. But to complain about a deal that was never even consumated is rediculous. Asking for 10 pictures of a knife that is barely worth under $100 is also rediculous and I would have told you to go pound sand because I am not sending you pictures of a knife that is so popular that you can probably google tons of pictures over the internet or better yet, you're local knife store is likely to have one to see.

Look, I googled it and found 2 pages of pics, here is one:

Hey, could I get a couple more pics of the full false edge? I tried tipping that one sideways, but my computer kept falling off the desk. :p

ILMAO:D .all jokes set aside Dr.martin sounds to me like a very stand up gentleman and this matter would undoutably been able to be resolved civilly via e-mail rather than dragging him somewhat through the mud, just my 2 cents,my advise is simple, think before you speak or type
Have a good one
Adrian

I missed the point that it was a $100 knife, if someone was pestering me for a bunch of pictures of a $100 knife I'd ignore them too.
