Willing To Give Buck Another Go, Where To Start?

You can start by telling us how you broke the tip off, don't try to con anyone here...

...that type of blade just breaking off just doesn't happen.

...none of them did i try to scam the warranty and get a free knife.

Lets see, you implied, in your very first sentence, that I was trying to "con anyone here".

Next, you stated, "that type of blade just breaking off just doesn't happen.". I said it did, so you are obviously calling me a liar.

You then went on to say that you didn't try to, "scam the warranty and get a free knife". Why say that unless your are inferring that because I did send mine in and expect something other than what I received, that I must have been trying to "scam the warranty"?

Not only that, but another member even responded stating his surprise in your response. I appreciate your loyalty to Buck Knives, their staff and products. But your experience was very different from my own. I did not (once again...) intentionally misuse or abuse the knife. I think I've made that pretty clear so have fun hashing this one out w/o me.

Sulaco, why do you keep it up? As much as you change your story around, every version comes out looking like Buck did you a favor.

Are you hoping if you keep playing victim long enough Buck will send you a free knife to shut you up?

There it is the words that you wrote, the first time you state that you removed it from the sheath, and banged it into the wall and it broke, then in your second thread today, you state you have no idea what happened,if that isn't trying to cover your tracks ,i don't know what is.The knife was mis used ,it broke and you tried to get a new one for free. When they recieved your knife ,They made a decision based on what they saw,i'm sure they can tell a factory defect from misuse and abuse. The obviously concluded it was abuse or they would have replaced the knife. If you don't want to buy Buck knives because they wouldn't give you a free knife after you broke yours ,thats up to you,i'll be buying and using your share.

There is no need to get defensive, you broke the knife, due to user error.Buck would have concluded it was a brittle blade if that was the case,i'm sure they would not re-grind a tip on a brittle steel blade and send it back to you.How is the tip now?Not falling off when you take it out of the sheath is it?My last post on this .......http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...772&highlight=vanguard+tip+ground#post9709772

I've had a Buck or two over the years, not a lot though. My last was a Vanguard. (deleated )
But doggone it all, it seems like every thread I read now somebody's singing the praises of Buck's good ole 420 steel, or Buck this, Buck that. It's gotten to where I just can't stand it anymore!! I've got to get one!

So talk to me oh legions of Buck. Where should I start? I like slippy's, don't care much for liner/frame locks, don't mind fixed blades. Where's that put me?

Thanks and looking forward to some replies!!

well guy i use my 110 dave nick for a reason

Sulaco,
Sorry I'm a little late to this thread but I think I can tell you why we did what we did. When we get a knife with a broken tip, we look at how much was broken off. If its a certain size, it may get retipped. Regardless of weather or not we think it is a warranty issue, we figure a customer went to all the trouble to send it in, we may as well make it better before we send it back. So we spend a little more money to buff and sharpen then ship.
Another thing we consider is that if the customer broke the tip during their normal knife use, maybe the tip is not strong enough for what they do. Not always the fault of the knife, or the customer. When we retip the knife, the tip is stronger and therefore better for that customer's usage.
I certainly dont remember your knife but I'll bet the tip was broken enough to warrant a retipping and we did it in the hopes that you would end up with a more useful tool. Our bad for not communicating that to you with a note along with your knife.
I am going to lock this thread....but I hope you'll send me a message and let me know if you had a chance to use the knife again? If it bothers you enough, let me know and I'll see if we can work something out. The last thing I would want is that you have a knife that every time you look at it you have ill feelings for the company that made it ok?
Take care,
