Willoughby's Blades Papillion, Nebraska (402) 677-6230. Not to be confused with Willoughby's Knives.
Larry Willoughby is a pure conman and not very knowledgable. Could not find a web address for W.B.'s.
Clues that gave it awayaway:
1). Argued with a customer at a gun show
that Cold Steel Voyagers were made from 1095.
2). Argued with another customer that ZT Knives were made of VG-10. Customer told him to look at the blade because the steel type is laser etched. Larry saw that and walked away from the customer.
3). Had a few damascus fixed blades that were poorly made. Probably pakastani made. Larry was trying to sell them as customs from a maker in Kentucky. One was a copy of a Tops Knives Tracker. I stepped in and
asked him who was the knife maker and he said, "I can't tell you."
I believe that Willoughby Blades travels to gun shows trying to sell knives at 20% over MSRP
And fool unsuspecting victims.

I'm confused. A guy at a gun show is selling crappy foreign made knives and passing them off as customs like 5,000,000 sellers on eBay (and likely many others at gun shows)? And this is surprising, or we should single this particular clown out? I would think most of us here would not be in great danger of falling prey to the nefarious machinations of said villain...

No reason to be confused, this is the Good, the Bad and the Ugly, this is where such things are posted.

We have many members with varying degrees of ability as to picking out the snake oil salesman, any honest attempt to help others is worthwhile.

Lots of new knife people come here. Always good to communicate what's going on in the knife world.
Agree to disagree.

I don't think a lot of people find their way to BladeForums, then to this subforum, and don't know what crap looks like. If they are here (this subforum), I would say there is some level of discernment already.

My point is more that if we are singling out random clowns at gun shows (of which there are many no doubt), should we also caution people about buying knives at interstate gas stations?

Regardless, thanks for the warning.
