Picked this up yesterday from Jim Smyth one of our local knife makers. He gave it a two tone look, Made the flats into a 600 grit satin finish. Also polished the pocket clip. Really gave it a good look.

WOW, That looks 110% better. I had one when they first came out, but I found that by gripping it tightly, my finger tips dug into the grooves that are centered in the middle. The starbenza on the other hand has wider flats, while the star tac are kinda sharp. I loved the knife otherwise though. Perhaps smoothing them out a little like you had done helps ???

First umnumzaan ive actually like the look of. very very elegant and rugged look to that blade. the clip also adds extra character. i like it!

That looks really nice. I did the same to my small Seb Startac basically as soon as I got it because I was unwhelmed by how it looked. It's definitely much better that way IMO. If you anodize it (with electricity, not torch, so that it's uniform), the rays will be a darker color than the flats with it like that, which is also quite nice.

I think in a few months after my Startac has a few more scuffs and bruises I'll try my hand at the two tone polishing job.
It really looks fantastic. Looks and performance, what more could you ask for. :)

WOW made it look much much better. I might consider getting one now and having something like that done to it.

Thank you very much for sharing this with all of us.

Yes, that adds a little extra style to the design. Very nice. The StarTac is one of the better looking knives I have seen.
