Win Handmade Knife by Jay Maines

Look Who Posted A Reply!!
John Yeackley, of Classic Wood Designs, out in CO. Nice to see you spenting some quality time! With Blade Forums folks??
I must say John that I can't wait to see your new web-page at, Top of Texas Knives, I hope Marti gets it up and running soon. Since I am promoting the "Holiday Spirt" by giving away Two of my custom made, Drop Point Hunters. I am going to try and get you John to join in. Why don't you donate 2 of your custom made display stands, for the winners of my knives. I will send you a copy of this style, for you to work from, ASAP, and you could mail them out to the winners. The handle material is Bocote wood, which has a blonde background, with dark brown or black streaks running through it. So any light colored wood, Birds-Eye Maple, or a dark wood like a nice burled walnut would look great. We'll leave it up to you, and your creative imagination. So what do you say John, will you do it??

Hey Jay

I would be honored to join in the "festive spirit" and build a couple displays for your knives. Your knives always make my displays look great. How about the display matching the knife handle.

As soon as I get your sample I will get right on it. Maybe Chris will post a picture
on this forum.

Hey wait a minute--- Does this mean I can't win the drawing. Do you realize how much I had to pay Chris in order to get my name at the top. I hope he returns all the gifts.

Hi John,
Thanks for joining in, on this knife drawing from Top Of Texas Knives. I'm sure that Marti and Chris also appreciate your generosity, in donating two of your outstanding knife display stands. The sample knife for you to work from is on its way to your shop. If you realy whant one of my hunting knives, than you may keep the one I've sent.
By the way John, thanks for sending the SNOW our way. Just what we need in MN, some nice deep snow. That way I can stay home in my shop, and make knives.

Hey Jay,
We got the second knife yesterday. It is beautiful. Look forward to seeing what John does with the display.
We've had pretty good response but I know there's a lot of forumites that haven't registered yet. The drawing is less than a week away.

Hey John,
That is one fine looking knife display stand! It realy gets the knife up where you can see it, it's going to look great in the winners collection. What type of wood did you use to make it? If you made others at about the same size for 4" Drop Point Hunters, what would you charge. I'm sure there are a few knife collectors out there, that would be interested in geting ones, for their "Show Piece" hunters.
Again, thank you, for joining in on this fun drawing, for two of my hunting knives, thru Chris & Marti at Top of Texas Knives.
Best Regards,
Jay Maines

Thanks for asking Jay.

Even though I did them rather quick I really enjoyed making them. This is what I call a semi custom display. It's made from the same material you used on the handle slabs-- Bacote.

This display can be slightly changed to accomadate almost any knife. The price would start around $45.00 for domestic hardwoods such as walnut, cherry, oak, or maple. The blade and handle touch only velvet to protect your beautifull craftsmanship.

The thing I like about this type of display is that the knife is very accesible for those knifeaholics who like to pick them up, handle them and whisper sweet nothings to them.

Good luck to all and to all a merry Christmas.
