THIS IS WHY I LOVE ARIZONA... if you are 21 you can have an unlimited amount of handguns and automatic knives plus any pre-ban fully automatic rifles.. Arizona is a great state....

An auto is the same as any other folding knife
once its open,right? Why does the speed of opening
have a bearing on the legality of the knife?
Size of blade I can understand, but speed of deployment?
If I wanted to feel more safe/protected, I would
carry a bigger knife, or better yet a gun!
A knife taking 1 second to open or 0.5 of a second
makes no diff. to me.

Ahh yes, speed of opening. A definite killer.

I'm corresponding with my state representative on trying to allow CWP holders to carry an auto. He showed me some feedback from a fellow rep on the subject. It was amazing. All I wanted was to put the words "Or Automatic Knife" after the words "Concealed Handgun". That's it.

The guy he talked to was worried about all kinds of trouble. "What about manufacturing automatic knives?" he wanted to know. "How about carrying in a school zone?" and "What about carrying it into liquor establishments?" were just two of a slew of other concerns.

Now, the concealed handgun permit in my state is very specific on where a gun can be carried, and I was perfectly willing to go along with the same carry restrictions on a Halo as is stated toward a Glock. I could not believe the fear that was generated by me wanting to add autos to the permitting process.

I guess he feels safer knowing that I limited to the number of bullets that I carry as to how many people I could take out in one rampage. Never mind that I'm responsible enough to pass the legal screening process to carry a firearm. I guess if I were to leave the pistola at home and carry a knife instead, I'd be a dangerously armed marauding street tough instead.

No sir, I don't see how the mentality toward autos is gonna change with these people.

If you want to give the knife away, I'll take good ol' number 1.

I read every post written and I am GLAD that it did stimulate some concern. RH, Buddy, New Jersey sucks.You need a radiation suit to go to the mall, but cannot carry an auto knife. Yet Most of you guys have a non-auto EDC you can "open" as quick as most autos. Hell I can set up a socket wrench quicker than getting a GT auto to Fire.
WHAT purt me over the edge is the Schulmer-Ted ( I need to crash with a Chick in my car) KENNEDY PROPOSED LAW that if it were to EVER PASS, I will be barricading myself in my house, is stupider, Dumber and when I First heard it, I HAD to READ it. In a nutshell, if you have children and for ANY reason you take them to a Hospital emergency Room, you will be required UNDER FEDERAL LAW to Affirm by Affadavit that the child will be returning to a "GUN FREE HOME" So my 14 year old, Junior Black belt takes a left during class while sparring and needs a few stictches in his eyebrow. In order for ME, The kids FATHER to assume custody, I must dispose of every FRIGGIN GUN in my House or my kid GOES with CHILD SERVICES pending a PROBATE COURT HEARING in FEDERAL COURT. Is this where we are going in this country? That was why I picked the Florida topic, because TED, I think I need a Drink Kennedy has already F-upped S&W, Colt and Thompson Contender firearms by mandating a gun MUST be sold with a LOCK SYSTEM. Teddy and Schulmer cited the Fourth Circuit RULING and they are going after everything. KNIVES (all) are next and I am just starting out as a NEWBIE collector!!!!!

I was going to do this on the auto boards, but GENERAL KNIFE DISCUSSIONS seemed more appropriate, as the only issue was the prize was an auto. And I will do this again, Maybe not TOMORROW but the more you teach me, the more I owe you and I have never met a finer bunch of people with a common interest than you folks on the forums.
