Hello,

I plan to get some fixed blade for camp trip purpose. I think I will get a chopper and properly two medium size fixed blades.

I can't decide between Winkler and Busse. Which brands has better blade geometry and ergonomic? and what about the steel?

Winkler should be more ergonomic and have a better blade geometry, Busse's big selling point is their nearly indestructible steel.

Both. Seriously I have both and they both rock.

I have several Busse knives and they will not fail, easy to sharpen and a topnotch warranty, you will not regret getting a Busse! I do not own a Winkler, but I have heard alot of good things about them.

Either but I'm a Busse guy so... ;):D

Whichever has the design you like at a price you are willing to pay. Both are great.
Busse has more variety if you can get them and more choppers.
For med size either is good, and also consider Swamprat (SR101) or Scrapyard (if you can get it). The latter will be cheaper but plenty tough and well made.

I'd go with the Winkler. Not only a better knife for real use, it comes with a very good sheath. He stands behind his knives vehemently.

Both has quite thick edge from my experience while ergonomic vise go to Winkler side.

Winkler's 80CRV2 can be well matched to SR-101. Its impressive for Busse that they can use modified 52100 through hardened to 59-60rc on their wakizashi and chop tree with out problem.

INFI is on a different league, much tougher and higher corrosion resistance which is a big plus.

I don't have any experience of the Winkler knives but have several Busse-kin blades and they are all fantastic. Busse are doing a series of offering a new knife each week but only available to order for a few days. Right now there's the Bunker Buster which promises to be an outstanding all purpose blade and well worth a look. Busse also has it's own dedicated section of the Exchange where almost anything can come up. Right now there's a very nice Swamp Rat Vex there that would do you for a smaller blade and at a very nice price point.

If you need something right now, your best (only) chance is on the Bussekin exchange. The weekly offers may be for sale now, but are months out from production and delivery.

Get the one that appeals to you most. You won't go wrong with either.

Get a Busse chopper and a Busse and a Winkler medium knives.

As far as tough use Busse wins, but Winkler knives are lighter and more wieldy.

As far as geometry goes, there really isnt a standard for Busse. Some models are chisel-like, others are scalpel like. It all depends on the model.

I dont have Winklers (yet) but I've seen they come with an extremely thick edge.
