Anyone has experience on both version of Winkler belt knife? I would like to hear the different between them in balance, feel, ergonomic etc.

I have had both, currently still have the tad version. I prefer 3v of the tad edition, the handle is shaped slightly different and is better IMO on the tad edition. Balance is good on both but the grip is better on the tad. Basically tad all the way.

They are hard to find though, I sold my back up tad edition and I'm still kicking myself.

I'd go so far as to say, the tapered tang Winkler puts out in his belt knife is the best balanced knife I've held. My tad Winkler has rubber grips and just absolutely locks into my hand. Truly awesome.

The knives in my pic under my name is a ratmandu and the tad Winkler.

The TAD stuff always just appears to be a color difference, or to have some sort of pattern screened onto something that doesn't usually have it. I don't believe there are any differences. I'm always willing to be educated, but that's just what I've seen from all of the gear sites I've perused and Ebay auctions for TAD stuff.

In the winkler tad line, the steel is 3v. His normal belt knife is 80crv2. In this case a nice difference.

Thanks you shinyedge!

Beside steel they does look obviously different in shape.
