Hi,
I traded into this one a few months back with the hopes of using it and comparing it to my RMJ 's to see which I liked best but never got around to it, now I'm getting a total shoulder replacement and need the money more than the hawks and will just keep the RMJ's I have.
The original owner told me that he used it once to chop a little wood, it has a couple very fine lines in the caswell finish but is otherwise perfect with a sharp factory edge.
It has the rubber handle slabs and the quick deployment felt lined sheath that Winklers are famous for - and very copied.
The tang has a distal taper and makes this hawk feel like it'd chop very well by putting the weight at the head- unlike so many full tang hawks. The step down on the top of the head is to provide leverage when prying with the spike and acts as a fulcrum
