The Winkler II Hunter's Axe LT with Sculpted Maple Handle and Caswell Finish is a true companion axe that gives you an edge for the outdoors or hobbyist.
Mastersmith Daniel Winkler created the Winkler II line in 2010. It is an alternate approach to an established tradition. Winkler Knives II is the result of processes Daniel Winkler developed over the past few years in order to provide axes and knives to teams within United States Army Special Operations and US Naval Special Warfare. Each piece in this collection bears the Winkler Knives II touchmark.
A full length integral tang lessens overall weight and provides a no-fail handle. To reduce the weight for perfect balance, the tang is skeletonized rather than distal tapered as you see in larger renditions. Forward weight distribution packs an effective blow. The Hunter's Axe LT features a hammer portion of the head for tasks that require some good old-fashioned pounding. The steel is finished with a non-reflective Caswell finish.
The handle is made from tough and durable maple. The sculpted wood provides a non slip grip and give it a unique, attractive look. Overall length is approximately 8-3/4 inches. The cutting edge is approximately 2 inches. From hammer to cutting edge measures approx. 4-1/2 inches
