**WINNER** A.Wrights & Sons - Wooden Wednesday Competition

Scruff, to be honest, and I hang my head in shame, I haven't posted m!uch in Wooden Wednesday, but this is a thanks to you for your fantastic Contributions to this thread, you are gifting a wonderful knife.
Thank kind Sir, and good luck to the entrants

Last chance for this tomorrow folks.

I'll be announcing the winner this Wednesday :)

p.s. Any of you slackers who've missed out because you don't celebrate 'Wooden Wednesday' think on! There could be more WW based competitions in the future ;) ;)

I have never posted in Wooden Wednesday. I really only carry one wooden knife. An opinel #7.

Wooden Wednesday's have given me a bug for an ebony handled knife, however!

Well, lets be honest, this 'contest' was a bit of a flop wasn't it :o

Nonetheless, I have reviewed the enteries, and have judged this against the quality of the wood, or rather, the most appealing array of wood in the entries.

I'm going to make black mamba the lucky winner.

I find the Mexican Bocote in his #48 particualry appealing, and together with his forced patina and modifiled secondary, well, its really appealing, and a bit different to the norm.

The #48 sheepfoot trapper again.

Thanks to those few of you that entered...or at least tried to ;)

You did make this a tough 'un!

Still, your guidelines did what you'd hoped (if more efficiently than anticipated), narrowing the field to those who have already demonstrated care in the Wooden Wednesday enterprise. And not a single "I'm in" from a hovering vulture did land-- I believe that may be a first. :)

I was surprised I (and other regulars!) had so few qualifying entries, and my that own qualifying photographs were so poor.

On the other hand, if anyone ever hosts a post-dated Colors of Sweden contest, I'm all over it:

:D

Congrats, Black Mamba! You sure did earn this one!

Thanks, scruffuk!

Why Sarah, hovering vulture's, I don't know what you mean ;)

I LOVED this photo when you posted yesterday....its a pearer!
If I was buying anymore knives, I might consider tracking one of these down again.

BTW your qualifying enteries weren't poor.....there has been such a saturation of Ebony lately, some of these other woods really stood out more.

Anyway, back on to the topic, we need to rally the troops to put in a better showing in the 'Wooden Wednesday' thread.
Show us some good wood folks!

WOW! I just logged on and saw that I am a WINNER. Thank you, Scruff!

I just added another cocobolo to the stable last week, so here is my acceptance shot. Thanks again.

Congratulations Jeff.
I have to agree, that striking Bocote Trapper deserves to be the winner. It's amazing how wooden covers can be so different from each other, bone is just boring in comparison :D.

Congratulations to the winner, I also enjoyed the winning picture. Great giveaway Scruffuk!

Jeff, you are a fitting winner of this give away. Scruff, it was a great give away and thanks for putting it up. An interesting take on a contest with altogether pleasing outcome. Don't for a minute think it was a flop!

Congratulations to Jeff!! A very deserving member of the family :D

Thanks for the great giveaway, Scuffuk

I'm in! :D

Congratulations Jeff, be interested to hear how you find the knife. Well done ScruffUK for hosting another giveaway :)

Scruff, I don't think it was a Flop at all!!, I think it was a grand gesture, and it shows the great guy you are, thank you very much, I said it before in your give-away that I am ashamed of the lack of my commitment in the wooden Wednesday thread, as I have plenty of ebony knives and I love 'em to bits, I guess I am a creature of habit ... that needs to break out my lurking areas and expand my horizons lol.
Hey - a huge congrats to a well deserving winner - Jeff!!

The Ettrick arrived today and I'm very pleased. Thanks again, Thom!
I posted a writeup in the Wooden Wednesday thread.
