WINNER ANNOUNCED: Quote GIVEAWAY!!!

One of my favorites:

"Your friends are dips#$%............Son, don't be a dips#$%.......And tell your friend I don't like him in my house......"

My dad. When I was a teenager.

"You picked the boat with the short oars, now you gotta row it" told to my friends wife by him after she decided try to move back into the house after moving out to, "find herself" the year before.

Also in the same conversation he answered her when she asked why can't he just stop drinking he told her, "you can beat a house in water but ya can't make it sink" he's notorious for screwing up quotes, like "6 of 1 and a bunch of the other" when I called him to see if he wanted me to go look at his car and tell him what his engine codes, were he said later, when I asked him why? He said he was, trying to get "all his ducks in the road" before going to court for his DUI.

Not a day goes by that he doesn't massacre some phrase or word, he still calls it a core of wood instead of cord and it just goes on forever, I have a couple hundred Kennyisms. :)

Here I quote one of my favorite scenes from the Movie Don Juan deMarco,. The 3 lines highlighted in bold blue are not of the "most quoted" but I found this very funny and of course utterly true.

In case you don't know the movie here is how Don Juan (played by Johnny Depp) introduces himself to the audience -

My name is Don Juan De Marco. I am the son of the great swordsman, Antonio Garibaldi De Marco. Who was tragically killed defending the honour of my
mother, the beautiful, Dona Inez Santiago de San Martine. I am the world’s greatest lover. I have made love to over a thousand women.I was twenty-one last Tuesday.

And so the scene:

Don Juan speaking to Dona Ana (who he is certain is the very great love of his life from here on) at her request, is revealing the number of women he has made love to:

Don Juan (he speaks to the audience),

"never guessing for a moment that my sweet Dona Ana believed that I had saved myself for her, as she had for me"

Dona Ana (she says to him)

" Very well, my love. I will accept that I am not the first if you will tell me, with the same honesty, how many others, there have been.

Don Juan (speaking to the audience)

"This would have been a very good time for me to lie, but truth is a terrible habit."

Don Juan (Speaking to Dona Ana)

"Including you, there have been, exactly, one thousand-five-hundred and two."

Don Juan (speaking to the audience)

"I could see, that this was a sum substantially greater than the one she had in her mind…"

Maybe it doesn't work out of the context of the movie but it makes me laugh every time I hear it. Sweet movie. Worth a watch.

Count me in on this one! Thank you so much for the chance.

"A goo workman always cleans up after himself, and puts away his tools." my dad, I've thought about this advice a lot over the years in more areas of my life then you might imagine, I've always thought it was one of the wisest things I've ever been told.

Here is mine :)

"When it comes time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home." - Chief Aupumut (1725), Mohican.

I'd rather have that XD .45 pistol next to the first part of this thread! Oh, now I see that those ads change every time you hit another page of the forum! Man, I've really been gone from here way too long! Now I'm starting to feel like I did before I started posting on here! That took four years!

He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist.”
