what was the mess up? Any chance you could turn 'em around and still use 'em?

Dan

Well before I order the wood and mess up I had a question.
Should I glue, drill, cut, and sand?
Or Cut, drill, sand, then glue?
Or some different order?

I would drill, temporary pin and trace, cut oversize, temporary pin again to sand to fit tang, then pin, glue, & contour sand.

clamp the wood to the tang
drill the holes
then trace the outline
cut the outline
Counterbore the holes (as discussed in my email)
Finish out the fronts of the handles - since that' harder to do once it is glued up.
Then glue up

Best of luck!

Dan

Just that you need to drill the first hole at 0.220" then "counterbore" it with a 5/16" drill bit.

If you want, I can make you a pair of scales that will be predrilled, outlined and with prefinished fronts. Drop me a line if interested.
