Winner Picked -- Who Wants My Garbage?

Thanks for sharing, Ben. That's one stunning knife, and I've never seen another quite like it. I can see how that would be your grail knife.

Awesome knife! I love peanuts and would love a chance at this one. Very generous of you to give it away. I started collecting knives when i was probably 11 or 12 but got my first knife at 7. It was a little two bladed Winchester. Good luck to all!

Great photos so far! Thanks for the welcomes. I'm looking forward to talking shop and becoming a better pocket knife owner (( "and operator" )).

First, welcome to the forums, mrapino! I'm a relatively new member, too, but I've been lurking and learning here for about 8 months. The traditionals subforum seems to me to be an incredible place!

Second, I'm in for a shot at the peanut. Thanks for the chance, Cory; I'm a firm believer in trash-to-treasure!

Third, you asked for a picture, and you may regret that you didn't specify criteria for the quality of photos. Here's a really bad photo taken by the camera built into my MacBook. It's the first knife I ever owned, a Colonial Forest-Master I got about 1960 when I was 8 or 9 years old.

I carried it every day and everywhere until I went off to college. Then I almost never carried a knife for the next 45 years, although the scout knife was in my desk drawer through all that time. This past January, I came home from work one day and found a grungy old Imperial peanut at my place at the kitchen table. My wife had apparently received it from her dad sometime in the 1970s after he had carried it for many years, and she found it in a storage box. So I spent a very enjoyable Saturday afternoon cleaning it up and trying to sharpen it. Somehow that rekindled my interest in knives, and I told myself that I was going to start carrying a knife every day again, like when I was a kid, and start trying to find old knives to "rescue". While trying to do a little background research on pocket knives, I eventually ran across BladeForums and almost immediately adopted the site as my go-to knife reference.

Thanks for the chance! I'm in!

This looks a lot like my first knife, which I got around 1970 when I was 8 years old. It is a Imperial "Kamp King" that I got when I was a Cub Scout. My folks couldn't afford the high dollar official BSA knife, so I got the more economical version that was close enough. This one has a lot of miles on it.

I've always liked knives (and guns, and tools...), but don't really consider myself a "collector." I joined BladeForums when I was looking for a new knife to use for field dressing wild pigs and a friend had suggested one of the Becker knives. I've been mostly hanging around the Becker sub-forum, but decided I need to branch out a little and start exploring other parts of the forum.

Thanks, Cory! This is the first BF GAW I've ever entered, the first time in my entire life that I've won a "raffle", and the first Case I've ever had! One thing I really liked about Cory's GAW is how he encouraged participants to provide a little knifey background about themselves; as a new guy here, I really appreciate hearing the "testimonies" of Forumites about how they got here, what their knife goals are, etc.

Rats! Another double post. Sorry.

Been too busy to check in for a couple days. Congrats to GT and thanks for the act of generosity, Cory.

I just wanted to take a quick second and publicly recognize 5K Qs. Since he won this contest I've had some contact with him, and he is the most respectful and polite person I have interacted with in some time. Then, the other day I received a hand written note from him in the mail and he included an old 1934 penny:

I just wanted to say thank you to 5K Qs. It honors me to know that you have my knife, and I have truly been blessed by your kindness. You are a credit to these forums.
