WINNER Selected -- Three Strikes, You're Out! - Another GAW

Thank you for the opportunity on a knife with some very nice looking Popcorn Stag but I will pass because I like to see other people get some Stag like this . They then usually turn into Stag Fanatics like me and then I don't feel so weird .
If you are giving away Stag that nice , there has to be something wrong with it on the other side !!!! LOL
Good luck to all who do enter . I am sure you will enjoy it .

Harry

Count me in! My reasons are:

1. It's stag...Long ago I focused mostly on stag handles, but in the last two decades have been diverted to wood handles. Stag is starting to call me again.
2. I have heard about the quality of the Bertram H&R knives and want to see it for myself.

I don't know if I qualify, since I don't really get the chance to post in the traditional thread, but if I am lucky enough to win then I'd have a reason to! Maybe it'll be the gateway knife to the traditional thread for me. Plus, I happen to think it looks like a very handy blade. The only truly traditional knife I own is a Case my Grandfather carried and I consider that as a heirloom for my future children/grandchildren.

Whoops! I forgot to add why I want it. I want this knife as an introduction to Hen and Rooster. I have not had the opportunity to use one of their knives. I also really like the single blade design. It looks perfect to keep on the coffee table as an eye catcher as well as a great knife to open mail and packages with. A great conversation piece for guests to ogle and fondle, perhaps turning them to the dark side(knife enthusiasm), haha. Either way I won't be upset, it's a privilege just to be considered.

Thanks leghog, it's a mighty generous opportunity.

The 80's is a Skeche time for hen and rooster. A.G. Russel was trying to purchase either the company or the name. Weather this pice was made in the original factory or was made elsewhere makes a certain point.

Awesome knife and gesture, I'm in!
I have wanted one of those H&R coffin jacks for awhile, and I attended that world's fair as a 9 year old boy, bringing home a brass handled Parker knife, and a super cheap little fixed blade that had the logo on the sheath, which rubbed off rather quickly. Great memories from that family trip, thanks for the opportunity!

I'd love it.

I love stag. Plus, I'm a big fan of big pocket knives.

The coffin shaped bolster just makes it cooler too!

I like it because it's a beautiful single blade knife with nice stag covers.
I don't yet own a hen & rooster, and I don't yet own a knife with stag covers either.

Another very interesting knife! Thanks for this ongoing series of incredibly generous give-aways, leghog!!:thumbup:

I'm entering with the intention to give the knife away this summer if I'm the one chosen.
I have a student who is getting married this summer, and this knife would be a great wedding gift for Rachel & Quincy for a number of reasons:

1) She thinks my interest in knives is amusing at best (and criminally insane at worst); she's more likely to remember getting a knife from me than a toaster from me.
2) Her fiance' was recently accepted at Vanderbilt's law school, so they'll be moving to the Nashville area after their wedding. Knoxville, Nashville, who from Michigan can tell the difference?
3) I think she'd benefit from seeing a use for Bambi's antlers.
4) The Hen and Rooster tangstamp/shield logo is very fitting for a pair of newly-weds.

Best wishes to all the entrants! :D

This looks to me like a winning entry. I hope I don't blow it for you by singling it out prematurely.

I'd like the opportunity to own it because I'm a 57 year old farm kids that grew up carrying a knife like this, and I'd like to own one again.

I'd like the opportunity because I'm tired of tactical.

I'm tired of uber steels. I don't feel the need to cut sheet metal or heavy gauge wire. I cut things like string or paper. I sharpen a marshmallow or hot dog stick for my grandsons. And I know how to sharpen my knives.

I'm tired of half assed retro. I'd like to have the real deal again.

And I'm enthused that the generosity you've displayed still lives in the hearts of like minded people.

Most of my memories of the '82 World's Fair play in my mind with the yellowy flicker of my parents' super 8 film.

I was 3 when we vacationed there from PA, and I can recreate some of the more memorable moments on my own (such as sitting on my dad's shoulders for a concert - I want to say Barbara Mandrell, but I'm truly uncertain) but otherwise, I'm in need of another "family video night" to resharpen the true account of what transpired that summer in Tennessee.

To be honest, I probably wouldn't have picked this knife out as a souvenir back then - as I was more into stuffed animals, but I'm pretty sure I'd buy one today.

I do own one knife in American Elk, but have no stag in my collection or user rotation. I'd like to make this my first, but won't cry like a 3yr old if I can't. :)

I won't grow tired of it - that I can say for certain. If I have the chance to give it away, it will be to one of my children, along with the story of me being at the World's Fair, as well as the recount of how I came into possession of such a piece.

I appreciate your generosity, and this particular give away. Even if I don't get it - I'm so thankful you shared it. Now that I know it exists, I can add this to my watch list.

Well, I will just say that I hope 5k Qs wins right now.

But as for why I want it:
1) It's stag
2) It's a large single blade (good for complimentary carry)
3) It's a coffin handle, I mean how cool is that?
4) I have participated in every one of you string of exceptional GAWs and I can't let it end here ;)
5) It's a pretty knife. I like pretty knives.

I'm in. Reasons I want the knife:

1: Its stag.
2: Its an H&R.
3: Coffin
4: Worlds Fair Etching
5: Large size

It's a perfect demo knife for me. I don't make my living sharpening. I just do it to fund my knife habit, take the kids to the movies, etc. It's play money as my wife likes to call it. As such, I can't afford to do any real advertising.

For my local market, I rely on word of mouth and direct interaction so I like to carry a knife with me that doesn't really get used and that has my edge on it. Just to show people what they're paying for or for them to borrow.

A knife like this is perfect. It's interesting on every facet. The unusual shape and size, the stag, the world's fair... all serve to strike up a conversation about the knife and hopefully how sharp it is.

Leghog, an incredible run, what you are doing is extremely generous so a MASSIVE thank you on behalf of all our Forum members here my friend.
Not an entry- not because I dont like the knife, it was strange because when I read why you didnt like the knife- I love everything that knife has!

I have learnt a LOT of good thing by being here on the Porch, everyone who has reached out to me has - quite possibly not quite known it - taught me lots of good things on how to be a better person - something I strive to be all the time, and watching you continually gift makes me take a Bow to you.
Well done and Thank you.

Amen, amen! I must say you are gathering some very worthy contenders. My pockets already runneth over, so I am not one of them, but these folks are the worthiest of the worthies! Good luck making your pick!

As an active LEO and an avid hunter all of my knives are hard use blades. When I saw that knife I thought...great for plain clothes work. Also terrific for dress wear in a suit or to carry to a wedding. If I win it will definitely be carried.

Not an entry for me leghog but cheers anyway - I am however intrigued by the black and white looking stag-niiice- it hits a home run for me on that level.
also intriguing is why anyone would climb over the fence of a nuclear facility-oh wait -now I see you were "university students" now it makes sense.:p:D

The fence was a temporary structure to limit access to the World's Fair not the nuke engineering building. Only way broke college students could attend the Fair was to sneak in.
