WINNERS ANNOUNCED - 11th Annual Memorial Scout Knife GAW

In for my granddaughter Abigail, now self-proclaimed Abby, but still Abigail to me.

Abbygrandaddy
Hello Abbygrandaddy! (aka A abcdef ) You have kids entry #1

I am in for myself, although ultimately it will be for one of my grandbabies but they are too young for a knife just yet.
I was a Cub Scout as a kid, and when I turned 13 I joined the Boy Scouts. I loved the idea of scouting, and loved learning scouting/outdoor skills that has stuck with me the rest of my life. I earned my Scout badge, and would have liked to have continued but unfortunately keeping on at the time required a time commitment and money that my parents just didnt have.
I always wanted one of this old Camillus Scout knives when I was in but never got a chance to own one. I did happen to get one of the old mess kits and a canteen that I used while camping but unfortunately they are long gone.
Anyway, Scout knives have always had a way of taking me back to those days, a simpler time with that youthful optimism that seems to fade over the years.

A very thoughtful and generous give away in honor of your brother, thanks!
Hello chevyrulez1 chevyrulez1 you have adult entry #1

Im in!
I would really love to win one of the knives for my fiancé. I want to do something special for him. He loves collecting different types of knives. He’s definitely a knife enthusiast and I just want him to know he’s appreciated and he is very selfless. Also, he doesn’t get a lot of extra. We have seven kids lol
Hello S shanalee you have adult entry #2. Seven kids doesn't tend to leave a lot of extra lying around. Good luck for your fiance!

I'm in for myself. But I would share the story behind it with my son who would get my knives when I pass. Every time I would see it I would think of you and your brother and make the point to cherish the time I have with my loved ones.

God bless,
Hello Buck_Fan Buck_Fan you have adult entry #3

I'm in for myself and my grandson who will be 2 in November. I was an Eagle Scout and my son-in-law was an Eagle Scout also. We (I) would like the stockman. Thanks for the awesome way to honor your brother.
Hello 1 1911bphil you have adult entry #4 and kids entry #2.

In for my girl friend’s grandson, age 11. I gave him a Swiss Army Knife a couple of years ago, so it wouldn’t be his first (any kid within shouting distance is likely to get a knife from me at some point). I am not entering for my own grandson, who recently turned 16, old enough to drive. I have given him a number of knives over the years, but this year, his girl friend and getting his license are getting all his attention.
In for me, too, for a chance at one of the mini trappers.
Hello Henry Beige Henry Beige you have adult entry #5 and kids entry #3

What a cool gesture to honor your brother and his memory, iwas going to enter for a buddy and his son,but after some reflection I may just enter for myself, if I were to win it would be my first on the gaw ,so combine that with the story behind it would add to the uniqueness of the knife, and like alot of my knives it would end up with my son one day unless it goes to my buddy and his son.seeing as canada is not a hindrance I'm in.
Hello Oldy Oldy why not enter for yourself _AND_ your buddy's son? You have adult entry #6 and kids entry #4. I've never had trouble sending knives to Canada in the past, though I do worry about sending things over the border these days. I'm willing to try, I just wish I could predict where and when shipping was possible and how much it would cost, but things are what they are.

In for a friend's son. He's 9 I think.
Hello JM2 JM2 you have kids entry #5.

I’m in for my sons and I. My oldest is 1 and a half and my youngest was just born 6 days ago! They won’t get a knife just yet if I win, but it will be waiting for them when they are ready. Even if I don’t win I’m still the luckiest Dad on the planet. Life is good! 😊 Thanks for the chance.
Hello CVamberbonehead CVamberbonehead you have adult entry #7 and kids entries #6 and #7. I always say that the right age for a first knife depends on the kid. I gave my oldest daughter her first knife when she was 3, and never regretted it (she wasn't allowed to use the knife unsupervised at that age, but I never worried about her messing around with it). I'm not sure I'm going to trust my son to use a knife unsupervised when he is 18 (though he has actually been doing really well this year trying to learn knife handling. He's 8 now. I still don't let him have "his" knives unsupervised though). And my youngest is 4.5, but she'll be a bit older before she is allowed to have her own knife. All that is to say, I think neonates are a _leeeeeetle_ young to learn safe knife handling, so I trust you'll hold on to the knife until the time is right ;)

Also, Mazel Tov! Congratulations on the growing family. I hope your kids grow healthy and well.

I am in for my youngest grandson, who turned 3 in February. In lieu of being in for my self I would also like to be in for my 16 year old grandson.
This is a great giveaway abbydaddy abbydaddy . The story behind it is very touching, I enjoy reading it every year.
I always seem to miss you at the OKCA show, maybe some year we will run into each other at Charlie's table.
Hello danno50 danno50 you have kids entries #8 and #9. It would be nice to run into you at Charlie's table. I do tend to be easy to miss because I am a bit of an introvert and get overwhelmed after a while. But I do enjoy getting to say hi to the people I interact with all year on the forum.

This is always touching when I read this, I too lost my brother, he was my only brother and he too was tragically killed.

I love the Scout knife, and I think this is such an awesome, meaningful giveaway, well done once again my friend. I am not entering myself, but if i could enter on behalf of Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 - Paul, I know he has young ones, and he is a stellar bloke, I am sure he would love to pass on one of these knives to them :)

Best of luck everyone and thank you once again for this wonderful giveaway !
Hello Campbellclanman Campbellclanman speaking of people I've gotten to see at the OKCA show! Jakeywax31 Jakeywax31 gets adult entry #8

As someone who has a brother that is a recovering alcoholic, I feel your pain. He is nearing a decade sober since the birth of his first child. Thank you for sharing your story about your brother, it is very touching! I am sorry for your loss and the loss of your keepsakes.

I am entering for myself and for my eldest kid Lily. She is only 5 now, but when she is old enough she will definitely be getting a knife of some sort. Still have to discuss with the wife what age that will be lol.
Hello PenisMightier PenisMightier you have adult entry #9 and kids entry #10. As I said in my reply to CVamberbonehead, the right age for a kid is always a kid specific thing. I don't think there is any hard and fast rule about when a kid is reliable and careful enough to use a knife safely.

Well, this is actually a pretty good turnout for this giveaway so far. We have 9 adult entries and 10 kids entries. I'll wrap this up on Sunday, so get your entries in!

Appreciate the splitting into both categories, I'm more than happy to help with shipping as I do understand that shipping is a fair bit more and I am just thankful for your willingness to ship to the great white north except in summer lol.

I’m late to the game but I’d love to enter if I could. I’m an Eagle Scout (made it just before my 18th birthday in 1986). Scouting was a huge part of my life. I only have one scout knife in my collection so I’m entering for myself. However we have good friends in Idaho who have a 15 year old son who I would gladly gift another traditional knife to if I am fortunate enough to win.

My middle son- now 16- was the lucky winner a few years back of this generous GAW!
My youngest is about to be 10 and keeps asking for a knife to go with him on his outdoor adventures. We are blessed to live in small-town Texas where he can roam without us worrying too much about him. He would love a knife and would appreciate and (partly) relate to your story because he had a twin that died in the Hospital.

I've been out in the field since Sunday, and forgot to close this up before I left, so we have a couple fresh entries
