I'm opening this up to all regular posters here in the Traditionals forum. Let's say 50 posts and above.

I've been very fortunate lately to luck in to a few knives that I've been hunting for a long time. I realize that I have more knives currently than I'll ever use, but hey, I'm a collector. What can I say? :D

To that end, I want to pass on a couple knives that I have a few examples of, and I think others here might enjoy.

First prize is a Queen Cut Co #11 Utility (slim-line trapper?) in curly African zebrawood, pictured here:

This is new and unused, with a nice slender blade of D2 steel. It's quite the looker, and is a nice light pocket companion.

Next up is a brand new Kabar 1232. This might be a little large to qualify as a "little Finn" (Carl, could you weigh in here, please?) but it's a nice little knife anyway. I bought this one a few years back at my favorite little gun shop before it went out of business, and it has sat on a shelf since. I have other knives that I always go to when I'm out in the woods, so its time for this little guy to find a new home. I don't have a picture of mine handy, but I found this one on the web:

To enter, a simple "I'm in." will work, but I do like a good story too. Maybe you can relate a story of a time when a traditional knife helped you to meet someone new or bond in some way. Or maybe you parents can talk about when you first let your little one use a knife, or gave them their first. Heck, maybe even post a photo of an outdoor activity that you like. Heck, I'm easy to get along with! :D

Thank you all for making this such a wonderful place to spend my free time in. I've only ever met a handful of you in person, but you all seem like family to me!

Dan, from another Dan, I'm in! Thank you sir.

One day Carl said we should get together. Where? The Lisbon Grill! I met an unassuming guy that loved knives and good food. I was also enthralled by such a small knife. Today I carry that knife and another Damascus nut. I have been getting non knife people interested in carrying because of these nuts. All they think of are serial killers running around with folding butcher knives, but love the peanut. I still carry my one hand openers but this peanut gets the job done. I want to thank Carl again.

I'm in, it has been years since on this forum but it was a great place to be.

I'm in!

My introduction to traditional knives was probably 20 years ago. One of my Supervisors went to a knife show in Las Vegas. He loves Vegas and he loves knives. When he returned, he surprised me with a beautiful pink/coral bone, etched blade knife by Frost Cutlery. This was way before the Internet was starting to take off and everyone was online. Bladeforums obviously didn't exist at that time.

The only member of my family to every own a traditional knife was my grandfather, Pop. I remember when I was young and riding in the back seat of a car with him sitting in the front. He always seemed to be eating an apple, and he would use his pocket knife to cut off slices of his apple and give each of us grand kids a bite. Those were the best apple bites I ever had!

When the Supervisor retired several years ago, I gave him a beautiful knife made by Todd Davison as a retirement gift. I wish I would have kept that knife for myself, as his wife snagged it immediately and put it in her purse.

Hi Dan,
I'm in.
I don't usually enter the GAWs, but those are 2 really nice prizes.
You're quite a generous guy. :)
Doc

Like Doc, I usually stay away from giveaways. But every now and then one comes up that I have to put my entry post in for. This is just such an occasion. I freely admit to lurking much more than posting (in fact I'm on here every day whether I log in or not), mostly because I never feel I have much relevant to add. But in this case, if you'll have me I'm in.

I'm in.
My Godfather gave me a Ka Bar exactly like that one when I was about six years old. My Mother thought I was too young for it and put it away, never to be seen again.
Didn't get another knife until Cub Scouts.

I'm in, thanks for the chance :)

I seem to be in the minority, but I was never really around traditional knives when I was younger; I did have a collection of vintage woodcarving and engineering blades left to by my grandfather, but my father decided they were his so I only really discovered traditionals in my late teens. I've still not owned many American brands, making this indeed a very tempting GAW.

Great giveaway Dan, two very fine knives there  I've already been the recipient of your generosity, so not an entry from me please :)

I've met some great folks through this place we have here, all of whom have enriched my life no end. Most of us may never meet in person, but we have a real bond I think, and when we do get a chance to meet, it's like meeting up with family. I'm going to see ADEE tomorrow, and I see Scruff pretty regularly, and my meeting with Duncan and his wife Sue is something I'll treasure always :)

Thanks for the entries, everyone. Keep them coming! I'll let this run until the end of the week.

Jack, not so fast, my friend. You're in on this one. :D

I can't resist. I would love either one of those, especially the Queen. Or the Kabar. Thanks for the chance.

My dad always liked slipjoints, whereas I thought of them as a make-do until I was allowed a fixed blade. I've come around to his view now in large part. Some of my favorites are the grab-bag of Bruckmans we went in on together from the big e-tailer.

NOT an entry thanks as I have two Queen Utilitys in bone.

All I can say is it's a great knife and a wonderful GAW, those of you who don't own this knife should take a shot at this excellent contest, these are VERY fine knives indeed. Most generous!

Regards, Will
