My wife and I sponsor a child from Uganda named Winnie. She is 11 years old and an orphan. This last Sunday, a member of our church who does mission work with the orphanage in Uganda had returned from his last trip and had some pretty bad news. Winnie had been kidnapped. She was taken by members of her tribe, probably extended relatives, apparently for one of two reasons. The first is that they need someone to work the fields, but more likely according to our missionary to be forced into marriage in order for her distant relatives to get the dowry. Mama Mary, the head of the orphanage is going to try to get her back, but she has limited resources and she needs money to be able to do this. For that reason, the entire proceeds of this knife is going to Uganda to try to get Winnie back.

Here are the specs.
The blade is W2 tool steel that has been hand forged. It has been clay coated for the quench for a nice bold hamon. The blade has been polished to 1500 grit and etched to bring out the details.

The handle is desert ironwood and the fittings are stainless. The handle is sculpted to fit well in the hand and polished to a high gloss finish.

The sheath is a two piece type sheath with 8-9oz leather from Wickett and Craig. The knife slides in well and holds securely.

Dimensions
Blade - 6 7/8" tip to guard
OAL - 12"

Price - $400 Shipped to US. I prefer paypal, but will accept check or money order.

The first to post here "I'll take it!" gets it.
Thank you in advance for helping out.

I can't swing this great knife at this time, but I can help a fellow Christian in a small way. $20 will be on its way via PP. A lot of people don't realize that kidnapping is a growth industry, and a large part of the GDP of some third world countries. God Bless America!

*Disclaimer: I hope this doesn't break any
BF rules, and I do not in any way feel solicited for this "donation". And BTW, I am not a lawyer and do not play one on TV!

Matt, we sponsor 2 kids as well, and we want to be a part of this. If you can give me until tomorrow to get the funds moved around, I'll get you the $ via paypal.

The knife is a major bonus, but the blessing of helping bring Winnie home is the real prize!

Thanks everyone. Nortex it is yours. I will get the money to pastor Roy (our missionary) and he will get it to Mama Mary as soon as possible. Thanks again. This whole thing makes me seriously consider adoption.

Norvtex, I should have mentioned, you can paypal me at matt (at) Baileyknives.com
Thanks again. I showed this post to my wife and said "bladeforum people are so awesome." She agrees.

Matt, love your knives, and now I find out you are an even better person than a knifemaker.

I am speechless about the support the members of this forum give. I don't know what to say other than thank you all.
