Went back to the farm for three weeks for Christmas break from college. I'll admit that I didn't get out as much as I should have or could have, but did get out plenty and got a bunch of good pictures.

All these pictures came from Dixon County Nebraska.

Welcome to the Stark Farm, with lots of snow and -10F temperatures:

Lots of hamburgers and steaks walking around in the feedyard:

Cool texture of a snowdrift:

Great sundog that hung around the sun for two days during the blizzard:

Doesn't look like a good day to try to go to town!

Sun setting over an iced-over lake. This was from a warm day and there was almost 2 inches of water on top of the ice. It was still plenty thick and there were a few people ice fishing!

When I work at this park during the summer we often have to chase people out of the Missouri river here. No problems with that today!

This was something I'd never seen before. Evidently when it got warm on some day or other it had caused the snow on steep slopes to roll up into snowy cinnamon-roll like things. This was just crazy, they were all over the place in the ravine I was hiking in:

This one was a bit smaller than average, Breeden Peacemaker for scale. There were a couple of these cinnamon rolls that were almost 24 inches in diameter!

Very cool. I like the Peacemaker. So the Stark farm is a cattle farm? How large? Need any indentured servants? I'm available!

We've just got about 40 head of breeding stock, 40 or so feeder calves, plus a few bulls and cull cows now. We have around 500 acres of crop ground but we rent that out to another farmer.

Great shots! Likes frigid even by Canadian standards :) When I was a teenage up in Sudbury, I used to dread sunny days on the snow as they were usually the most bitingly cold. The cloud covered, snowy days were much warmer!

Looks nice, I love farms! We are going down to the in laws farm for a couple of days at the end of the month, really looking forward to it. I like how the nearest neighbor is about 2 miles away, I always take some of my guns to shoot down there. They have over 75 acres of woods to wander around in.

Truly beautiful pictures - thanks for sharing them.

I would love to be able to live somewhere like that.

Great pics Brent. Now I kind get to see what your farm looks like. Since you have been here to the farm twice pic up your knives. Seeing the rolls of snow was pretty cool. Dec was a fridged month here in Neb. Now we are haveing temps in the 40s and higher. I like it.:D Cool pic of the knife you posted ;) on the roll of snow. Speaking of burgers and steaks, this 800 pounder became just that, here on the farm.

wow.. those are some great pics... that is a lot of snow... love the old farm...:)

Great pics, thanks! This makes me homesick for South Dakota. You'd be surprised to find out how many people who don't know what sundogs are, much less have seen them... :D

Cool sundog. At first I thought it was the camera lens. I've only seen them around here during the summer and alot smaller.

The next day there was a full halo around the sun, but I didn't get any pictures of it. I've seen one in the summer too, but usually halos and sundogs happen in the winter around here.
