Gentlemen, it’s my favorite time of the year for knifing. The carbon fiber axis locks are going into the drawer and the AD10 and small fixed blades are coming out. I love the colder weather. Having an excuse to carry much bigger blades is just a bonus.

My main trio is shaping up to be these. If there’s snow on the field or any chance of gloves, I’m guaranteed going fixed blade or tri-ad lock. I don’t see a reason to go any other direction. If I’m going to be working outside, I’ll probably pull out a voyager and spare these pretty boys. Plus Voyagers are just p4p work knife kings. The CMFTW dagger is another gloved hand beast. Chisel ground and just wants to be in the snow like a huskie.

You guys putting up your dainty summer stuff and bringing out the big boys? Carry the good stuff year round?

I’m in AZ so… doesn’t really get that cold here to carry different.
But … you have made me envy some cold steel knives. I kinda would like to try a couple out sometime. Hmm maybe after Christmas stuff.

Nice Charlie Mike fixie! That chisel grind is sweet.

I tend to just carry on carrying the same type of knives throughout the whole year, although I might beef up the supplies and arsenal in my truck when it's getting really cold in case I come across some snow and have to dig my way out of somewhere or something.

I see what you mean though, with colder weather we wear bigger coats and stuff and it's easier to conceal fixed blades or bigger folders.

I'm guessing in hot weather clothing changes to gym shorts and thinner lighter apparel, winter heavy coats with more pockets and jeans with a belt may give more opportunity for heavier gear. Being from Florida and having lived an hour north of the 45th parallel I get it. I never switched up much though, and dainty ain't my thing.

I carry this wearing shorts either completely open, sheath sticking out under a untucked T, or just dropped into my front right pocket. Sometimes wear even bigger knives that way too. Carry a utility folder as well.IMG_20251129_221442298_HDR.jpg
