Winter Hats?

When it's really cold, and it's windy around here in north Jersey, i give up on brims and just suffer the sun in my eyes, since my parka has a warm hood. Knit caps, especially with a cuff. Rarely but sometimes, I'll wear a ballcap under the knit, sun off fresh snow is impossible to see without the brim.

Or you could just wear sunglasses too. :D

Ive got the OR hat, if not that model then something very similar to it. Ive had that thing for years and even when i get something new that i think might look better, i always end up going back to the OR for warmth and comfort.

What kind of parka do you have? I grabbed a Mountain Hardware Downtown coat and the hood is really quite good on it! Down insulated and the collars are snug to your next so it keeps you really warm! However you cant hear much of anything with it on!

Thanks guys but I am like upnorth...no brim for winter hats...especially in chicago...too windy here! Blow off easy. I do like a brim to keep the sun off my eyes but yeah not the best in the wndy city! I do appreciate all the recommendations.

Stormy Kromers, even though they have a brim, will not blow off your head. That said, they're really not hard-core winter hats in that they won't fully cover your ears. Mine leaves my ear lobes exposed, although the ears are pressed against the head which helps to keep them warm. The Rancher model of the Stormy Kromer WILL fully cover the ears, although that particular model looks a little weird. Cows probably don't mind, though.

I cant get past the look and if it doesnt fully cover the ears...I would be unhappy with it.

One would think that SURELY a mod could fix his own double post. :)

(Yes. You should most definitely get the orange, too.)

What double post

I think I will. I've got a few Recon Wraps (Spec Ops Brand) including blaze. Look good with that elf hat. I won't even need a flashlight at night -- the drivers will see me crossing anyway.

I've has tears running down my face from the cold and a brimmed hat. Kind of like an ice cream headache. Seems the prairie is always windy. Maybe it's as explained to me once. Saskatchewan is windy because Manitoba sucks and Alberta blows.
:p
(Sorry fellow westerners) :D

Another nod to the Stormy Kromer.Moose who mods the Becker forum was chuckling at mine and called it an Elmer Fudd hat till the wind sarted howling up on halfmoon ridge. The flaps keep the tops of my ears warm yet leave the ear canal uncovered so i can hear critters or booger eaters sneaking around
