Great Photos,Gear and write up

Thanks for taking us along on your trip

I think you handled the mishap VERY well too

Mine has also served me well, but as you can tell from this I am looking to upgrade. Most feedback has me leaning towards a bigger pack for the winter stuff.

Thanks

I have 2 Ospreys- The Osprey Crescent 70 for winter conditions and the Stratos 40 for all other times of the year. I can see how the Stratos would be inadequate for overnight winter expeditions.

Great pics buddy thanks for showing them !

What are the pants ya wearing ?

A variation of these, although mine are discontinued now it looks like. Basically Columbia snowboarding pants which I like for hiking.

BChou-E29 Nice pics thanks for sharing!

Cool hat. The ladies practically come to you when you wear it don't they?

Yup they sure do! But not as much as when I wear this Three Wolf Moon Shirt.

Lordy me...I don't believe I laughed that hard in a good while!

But in all seriousness, a wool hat does wonders for when you're cold. Even though you only lose about 10% of your body heat through your head, the nerve endings on the head are the most sensitive to temperature extremes. I know from running a 5k on a brisk 40 degree day in only short shorts and the trusty wool hat :D

That looks like a great place to hike and explore. I like your choice in tools.
Thanks for sharing!

That is definitely a compliment coming from someone who carries tools like these...

My tools, GB SFA, Marchand Puukko, SAK OHT.

Wisconsin has a lot to offer someone who enjoys spending time in the wilderness. kettle moraine state forest is a great one to explore, and I'm just scratching the surface.

mtwarden thanks for sharing the pics, looks like you had a great time (minus the sinkhole thing )

The sinkhole is a cool story now, but at the time I was definitely rattled by it. All is well now though...

Someday my skills will be worth more than the tools I lug around. Getting there slowly with the help of the W&SS forum.
