Winter overnighter in NW Mass

Awesome pictures. Looks like a great time, minus how cold it was. Could go for some mead now.

I agree with that last statement. Just sitting down with some scotch, myself. We may need to get a big ass, north-east-coaster get together going one of these days. Seems like theres a whole bunch of us. Tony, thanks for sharing, man. The pics were great, and it looked like you guys had a hell of a time. It even looks like the cold wasn't much of a factor, either.

Cool post and pics. I think I might have to take trip to the mountains next winter.

Sounds good to me. Probably many more people around NJ/NY than we think.

Great post Tony, looks like you guys had a heck of an outing. Better you than me with all that snow!! In a couple of those shots looks kinda like the camera (or maybe the operator) was hittin' that mead too :p

This reminds me of when my friend and I decided to go camping a few weeks ago.

We got up to where we were supposed to camp (we'd camped up there before and had set up a lean-to, so it's obviously one of our favorite places - easy shelter ;) ), and things were going fine for about 5 hours. We had our food all done, our fire was nice and toasty, then it was time to go to bed.

I dug into my backpack, retrieved some ZipLoc bags that had my wool socks and lj's, took 'em out, and saw that I had only 1 wool sock (which were supposed to go over my ankle-socks!). To compound this, the sleeping bag I brought was a womens' size small that my dad had bought for my mom a while ago.

Also, my friend (his BF name is GenerallyAwsomeDude) cut his hand to the point of needing stitches, and was wearing ankle-socks that had huge holes in them, no lj's, and he was sweating from making the fire. And you know what happens when cold sees you sweating - it attacks you even harder.

The camera man was definately hitting that mead:thumbup::D

But the shakey pics might have been due to cold ungloved hands.:o

Hahahaha, I can see where either of those could be a factor. As I said, better you than me with all that white stuff and cold temps.

The Junglas is a great knife, but axe and saw are king in those conditions. The Junglas was just for fun:thumbup:

Yeah, they are! I have the little Wildlife Hatchet and absolutely love it. They have a rustic look about them, sharpen up really well without much effort.

We bought the large splitting axe for my g/f's dad on his birthday and it is one serious lump of sharp steel!
