Hello my friends ,

The winter in Paris area is not really beautiful. It's grey , wet and a bit sad.
So we need to find activities, hobbies to make it joyful .
What about a GAW 😉

Rules :
- It's open to ALL the members because joy needs to be shared
- Write a message in this thread beginning by "I'm in "
- Tell us how you make this winter time pleasant and cheerful. Like this we will collect a lot of recipes and test them 😂
Of course illustrations are welcome to make the reading of this thread a pleasure 🙏

What is the GAW ?
A very nice Alpin made by Marc René.
The knife is 7.09 long , it's blade is in 12C27 and measures 3.1.
The handle is in ironwood.
It's very nice knife with a good snap .
And ... it's new .

Let's play two weeks and I will draw the winner the 02/14 on my favorite website : https://plouf-plouf.fr/

Have a very nice day .

I'm in.
I'll find something to GAW today.
I eat too much and drink more coffee to cheer up in the winter.
And play with knives.

I’m in!

Fireplaces are a great way to stay warm and cozy during a cold French winter. Here is a picture I snagged from Google Earth of a fireplace (sadly not lit) in the French farmhouse where I spent a lot of time, in 1988 and 1989, in the Aude:

I don’t currently have a fireplace where I live - I may have to do a little winter camping to have a fire, if I get the chance.

I'm in! It looks like a really nice knife!
Over the winter I often transfer over to a computer related project, as that's one of my other hobbies. This year I'm working on building a database of all of my Case knives, and I've been gradually upgrading my home server so I'm able to host my movies, tv shows and music in one central place.

Good 1 JM.
Not an entry,
I like an early morning walk with the dog, feels so crisp & fresh.
Going out for hot chocolate or coffee. You've got to get out in winter.
Get to wear my hat collection, I have lots.
Making good comfort food in particular 1 pot meals, chilli, curried sausages that type of thing. The wife often requests it. I think it's so I cook, cunning😊

I'm in . . . . . Vancouver, BC!!!Dusting of Snow.jpg
But I am NOT in the giveuoué, J-M!!! You have been very kind to me over the past years, so please choose another deserving member!!
Seen here, a light dusting of snow this A.M. after a month of mild, rainforest weather! It will probably be gone (melted) by tomorrow!! Only the second snowfall of this season!

Haha - my daughter is visiting friends near Vancouver and she just sent me a similar picture a couple of hours ago :D

I'm not in. As tempting as the knife is, I simply do not participate enough in the forum these days.

As far as I am concerned, even though the weather may be grey and cold, getting out in it makes the winter much more bearable. Especially if you can get out of the city, and to the coast:

Sure, getting out in the winter can be a messy cold business, but it is worth it to me.

I'm in. Thank you for the opportunity.
I keep busy looking after my 1 year old grandson, volunteering at a local museum, reading, doing crosswords, going for the occasional walk (not as much this year as I am waiting on a new hip), shoveling snow (when it snows), traveling around to watch my oldest granddaughter wrestle, and playing with my knives and perusing knife forums.

I'm in.

Spending cold winter days inside, reading and listening to music. The new library books start on the left speaker, then migrate to the right speaker when read. The music is either from the local college radio station or my CD collection.

Thank you for this very generous GAW. It's a beautiful knife, and has 4 things I don't have: anything by that maker, and nothing French except a few Opinels, 12C27 steel, fileworked liners, and ironwood scales.
