Winter wood and some knives in trees...

Hi all,

Ken your trip to day looks like great time. I love the pics you take of your dogs. You get some really great shots. Kathy and I took trip over to some land that my Brother in law has. Kathy and I have a rock fire ring and a nice log to sit/ lean against. It was 61 degrees to day. Here is apic of it. Along with the that new pathfinder with the bocote wood I finished up yesterday. Ken you are so right about that wood being so cool LOL. I love it. I told Kathy that today we are using knives that have the woodsy look.
No orange LOL For chopping up the walnut wood that we used. That Brian Andrews axe was just awesome to use.

I use to have the whisper light to but it was more trouble to use. Like you said it seemed to need cleaning alot.

Love the knife pics LOL as always.

Take care,

Bryan

A question if I may.

How do the seed heads and stalks in this photo go as tinder?

From the pics it looks like you would have everything you need (tinder, kindling and deadfall) to be able to get a fire going using the natural resources available there

Kind regards
Mick

Hi Mick I will tell you that they work great. I use them all the time. They are called Goldenrod. The dried stalk is a awesome way to get your fire going to I used some today.
Grab a bunch of the break them up and use them as kindling istead of small twigs. they burn so good.

The fluffy ones are called Phragmities and is an invading tall grass derived from Europe. The tufts work excellent as a flash tinder!

I thought I recognised it. We have a species of Phragmities here and your right it does make a great flash tinder
