Winter !!!

Twelve degrees below zero today. Yesterday was the second time in my life I did not vote, farm roads were ice-skating rinks. YB slipped and he has four-wheel drive, with traction nails !

This is one of the longest, most severe Winters I can recall.

How to make an Ndn toboggan. 12 inches wide. http://www.innu.ca/utapan.html

Man, no thanks. Of course, we're expecting a half inch of ice to come down on our heads today. Down here, that's just asking for trouble. What a stupid day to be at work. I broke the jeep in the snow storm last week. The 4WD seems to have been a little neglected by the previous owner and shifting it in and out of 4H and 2WD has made the jeep more than grouchy so that it vibrates your eyeballs in your skull at 35 mph. Now, I have to navigate the ice rink in a 1986 Scottsdale that handles like a pig on ice. Of course, the wife has the day off as the schools are closed.

Awful lot of work just to get to work and do no work because there is no work to do. One day I gonna get me some minions and some peons and keep my butt at home when the weather is crappy:mad::p:D

Its been a beautiful winter here in NW Ontario, perhaps the best one in over 10 years. Winter has been steady, snows came early and we didn't get too many of those nasty thaws like we had in recent years. The snow has been good for winter sports as a result.

I DID warn you about going to work on a "snow day," didn't I?

Hope it is an inexpensive fix.

That ya did, Kis. That ya did;)

It's probably a U-joint. No big deal. If it freezes over as much as they say it might...well, without aggressive tires and 4WD, I just might have to call in tomorrow. I mean, how can I get to work if I can't get out of driveway;)

Winter here is no fun. At least it's beautiful up there. Right now, it is gray and raining. The rain is beginning to freeze to the road after washing away the salt and beet juice (beet juice, no lie).

Forget it. The other office closes at 4. I'm closing at 4 too. No since waiting around to be entombed in the forming glacier:D

Steely,
Beet juice? Any idea how that affects ice or snow, I've never heard of that before.
Ol' borscht road...

: ) mark

Mark I have no idea how it works. It's supposedly a mixture of beet juice and brine. I have no idea how beet juice is more cost effective, but the news has done a couple of stories on it this year already:D

We've had the most snow this winter than any other in recent memory. It seems to have gone through the cycle of snow, freakin' freezing, warm, freezing rain, repeat three times though. I got some neat shots early this winter though.

Kind of a balmy spring day around here. Not quite short sleeve weather but the grass is staring to warm up and grow. Guess Seattle is all done with cold and snow for the year.
