Hi all. I made this simple one a while ago, before I started posting here and thought you guys might like to see it. It was supposed to be a dagger.

After some cleanup...

And then disaster! While bending the guards I notice two cracks appear on one of them.

Well, lets make something else with it.

Butt area modified and second piece cut out.

Twisted handle and trial fitting.

And put together.

Finaly the finished knife and stand. Overall length is 7.75" with a 3" blade. Blade is made from a Nicholson file, top piece on the knife and both stand pieces are mild steel. I left a slightly bronzed color on the handle from the oven tempering. Blade has a slight temper line.

There are no mistakes in knifemaking. Only smaller knives.... :D

Wonderful!

From lemon to lemonade!Super nice piece and nice save Serge! When someone asks me what the hardest part of knifemaking is, my answer is always the same.Learning how to make your screw ups look like you intended to do it that way, and this is a fine example of just that!

Very cool Serge, thanks for showing us the uh-oh too. Turned out great, perhaps batter than the dagger even. Great work.
