WIP- Becker Bushcrafter, formerly a BK16

No worries, to each his own.
I guess you could use a cut off wheel, but you would have to go very slow, and keep the blade temp low. I used a 30 dollar 1x30 belt sander from Harbor Freight.

Well, it looks like you've made a solid competitor for the ESEE Laser Strike. Good job, and while it may not be my cup of tea necessarily it was executed very nicely. Those handles scales look very comfortable.

You've done a really, really good job, but I don't understand the purpose in dropping the point so far like that. What does that do or improve in terms of use, especially for "bushcraft" type tasks?

(Genuinely curious and not being a smartarse)

The point is like that because Ray Mears said so. Seriously, it is said that the point should be in line with the middle of the handle because it makes drilling easier. I do not have a "bush craft" knife (yet) so I can't say. A regular dropped point has worked well enough for me though.

Got the scales sealed with a few coats of BLO. Left them outside to dry in the sunshine, over 24 hours between each coat. Thinking of cutting the lanyard loop to try make a bottle opener like the 11 has. Undecided on this, I don't like lanyards on my bigger knives, to me they seem to get in the way more than they are useful.
Here's a few shots of the finished, sealed scales and the profile. I really like the color of the Olivewood with the BLO finish.
