Hi Guys. Son Mike and I made a sub hilt that we raffled off already but if you are interested we also did a "work in Progress" thread on it. Its is long but informative. Some here have seen it but if not please Check it out on my sub-forum at: http://knifedogs.com/showthread.php?t=1911

Here is what it looks like

Thanks JT. I like hollow grinding and with a small wheel they are easiest. Keep practicing.

I did a blade form my rondel and i used a 2" wheel and it worked great but i accidentally dropped the ridge line lower then a tang so i had to scrap it. It was even heat treaded and everything. o well it all a learning experience, i do much better flat grinding when it comes to double edged knives. but on a single edge I'm good at both and don't even sweat it when i step up to the grinder as its second nature.

Great looking knife as always Bruce.

I was thinking of doing a hollow grind dagger and was thinking of using a big ballnosed end mill to set my grinds. Having the established lines for the wheel to follow should help me out. I always have a problem keeping straight and even.

Getting the grooves started is the hard part. It almost grinds itself after the groove is established and simply add pressure where needed to raise or lower the grinding lines. Sharp belts help allot. Go slow and do it in sections if the blade is long. Machining is too slow and it needs to be hand ground after the machining anyway. :)
