WIP : Svord Peasant--> Silk Purse from a Sow's Ear...More pics

Very nice work Duane, certainly makes this look less utilitarian and a bit more man about town.

I have a couple of pieces of honey Buffalo but its waaarped :-(

One of the reasons I never liked the Svord peasant knives is that (to me) they're ugly as homemade sin, but this version makes the peasant knife a thing of beauty and utility. Congratulations.

Nice work! Is there a way to adjust the tension on it to keep it closed (or open) better?

The adjustment was made while peining the pivot, the tang gets pinched while open, giving a very solid lockup for lack of a better term. Same when closed, with a smooth feel through the opening and closing arc. Further adjustments should not be necessary, but if so they would require clearance sanding, or re peining of the pivot pin.

Wow! That looks amazing! I bet it is really something to see in person in the sunlight.

Thanks Blaine, there are various streaks and specs all through the horn and different angles of light reveal subtle differences.

I now think of this material as natures FRN...It can be heated in boiling water and clamped to flatten it out, or sanded flush and worked from there...but the nature of horn necessitates solid pinning to hold over time.

Thanks to everyone for for the compliments :)

psssst...it's not even done yet!

Well then, it's a good thing you didn't wreck it after the first set of pictures. :p

Excellent job, Duane. You certainly made the knife into something wholly other, and much more desirable (to my eyes).

I trust the steel is worth the trouble?

Duane - that´s a beautiful knife! And a great piece of craftmanship. Your skills are really great, my friend! :)

Thanks for sharing!

Wow, that is really something! It seems your craftsmanship knows no bounds! I can say first hand that Duane's work is nothing short of amazing. I am still working on a post about some knives that I got from Duane through a long and very enjoyable trade process we had going on. I am so happy with the knives I got from Duane, I think I got the better end of the deal...but shhhhh don't tell him :p

Here is a teaser :)

I'll have a much more in depth post after I get a chance to put the big one to more use...I've already been carrying the mini Svord for a few months now...it's proving to be the "perfect" knife
