Check out the Spyderco MeerKat or Des Horn! Both are wire clips that are tip-down carry.

As many times as I have read this statement (especially on this message board), I will still never understand how something "looks cheap".
The Spyderco wire clip is my favorite clip of all.
Its a well made clip and holds up very well.
I bought and put back a few of the tempered ones before they quit making those. They look great and slide into any type of pants well. At times I'll wear fleece pants in the winter and the wire clip is the only one that works well with them.
Spyderco actually uses old paperclips, rather than disposing of them. They say it's more environmentally friendly.
Much prefer the wire clip over the big, shiny Spyderco spoon clip. Deeper carry and looks better. The spoon clips stick out like a sore thumb and could use a redesign IMO.
Be very careful. I lost a $1000 custom because the wire clip bent slightly and it fell out of my pocket. It was a big solid 'tactical' knife, but the clip just wasn't enough for it.
Spyderco wire clips are the best clips on the market, in my opinion.
I'm not a big fan of pocket clips in general but I'm with you. The wire variety does look cheap. Having said that, I'm sure someone out there thinks they are the bee's knees.Aside from a cost saving maneuver, what is the sense behind wire pocket clips? Most I have seen look cheap and un-sturdy.
