Thanks guys, I have used a pocket chainsaw before but they take up alot of space and are pretty heavy. I want some wire saws for psk's and to attach to the sheaths of small knives. If anyone knows of a quality one that works, I would be real gratefull if you posted a link of something here.
Doesn't exist. They are really a last ditch kind of thing. I have used the wire saws, the Pocket Chain Saw, and the Ultimate Survival Chain Saw (only actual one with chainsaw teeth). Wire saws in wood just plain suck, equal to using a hack saw blade to cut wood. Yes it can be done, but why? The US Chain Saw is fast, but you really have lean on it and it doesn't do small diameters very well; very bumpy when jumping single teeth over the small diameter vs having 2-3 teeth cutting at once. The Pocket chainsaw is not quite as fast (2/3) as the US Chain saw, but cuts small just as well as big. Its biggest downside is that it can get too hot to touch if you really push it, the US Chain saw does not heat up even close to that much. I have used the US Chain saw to process an entire tree (6") into fire wood without too much trouble once you get used to how it cuts.
The Pocket Saw, the smaller one in the cloth pouch doesn't weigh a thing, is very compact and would be my choice for an emergency saw. That's my 2 cents.
(Pocket Saw pouch is 3"x3")
