Hey everybody, I was wondering if anyone can help...I have a 3 hp motor and I have a vfd, (kbac29 1p).....the problem is no wiring....

1) does anyone know where I can get wires , and the glands etc from?

2) any recommendations o what kind of plug to use...it's a 220 outlet

3) I looked at kb electronics website and saw some discrepancies as to what size motor I can use with that vfd....can none confirm this is the right motor?

Thanks for any suggestions, I really appreciate it....ryan

Ron Frink at Beaumont metalwork sells a wiring package. Wilmont also has a premade package.

How do I know if a premade package will work though, this isn't something I really wanna guess at.....I already tried rob but it wasn't helpful....I have to look elsewhere unfortunately.....ryan

You can't use the premade wiring kits suggested above, since you will have to use larger wire to handle the larger load.

Home depot if it's close to you.

The plug and outlet have to match each other and are sized by the load of the motor

The max load allowable is 80%
I run 1.5 HP 12 amp motors in a 15 amp outlet

Let's see the motor plate especially the amp rating.
Then we will look at this chart for a plug and outlet number
You have to keep in mind, the motor will list amps, say 9 = but that is for each phase of the three phase, so your plug in the wall should be
motor amps x 3 then divided by .8
and round up

6-30 might be in the right neighbourhood.

KBAC27D is for 1.5 HP on 110v
.....................220 on 20v

KBAC29 is for 3 HP

The manual

3 conductor wire from the plug to the wall
Stranded Cab-tire, extension cord type with the black rubber outer coating is nice stuff
MAYBE 10 gauge - someone else is more qualified on this

from VFD to motor, 4 conductor wire, you can do down a gauge MAYBE 12

They don't give you a main power switch, I would put one in.

ryan you can use any plug rated at more then 15 amp draw (for me i use 50 amp since thats the plug i had a pigtaill for )240 amp

You can buy hubbell aluminum glands. You can buy a larger gauge so cord from hd and have everything work out well. If this is confusing then maybe hiring an electrician would be a good idea.
