Got my new grinder yesterday, and have been trying to get it wired up. I have the Beaumont Metal Works supplied 3hp Leeson motor and Vacon SE2 VFD. The run from my panel is 60-75', 10-2 wire with a 30amp double pole breaker (240V).

The motor turns initially, but turns off when I increase the RPM to approximately 1/2 speed. It gives the following error message: Drive has tripped on overload after delivering >100% for a period of time.

The decimal points are flashing on the terminal, which indicates overload as well. The book says to check cable length to be sure it's within spec.

Motor Specs: http://www.leeson.com/leeson/searchproduct.do

So, is the run too long for the wire? Do I need a bigger wire/breaker combo? Any help is appreciated.

I first would check your line voltage at the VSD.Many parts of the country only have 208V not 240V, that along with a long wire run could result in low voltage.Low voltage will cause a VSD trip.Dave:)

Okay. So I'm not an electrician. I had it wired wrong, problem solved. I lost track of time after I started testing it out some. Man, this thing is sweet.

Anyway, thanks DC for the suggestion.

Sounds good Tito...glad you got it sorted out. That VFD and motor is just amazing!! Power and silky smooth...it's truly impressive.

Don't hesitate to drop us a line if you need any help.

Have fun with it.
