Hello all,

I am a young and new maker and I really need some help! I've made up a few blades with a little 1x30 and all that out of 1084, but would really love to get some hands on help. Are there any knife makers on here in Wisconsin? Preferably in the Milwaukee general area? I would love to be able to get some hands on tips and tricks from some more skilled makers. Thanks in advance for whatever direction you can point me in.

A really good place to start would be at Janesville in 2 weeks. there will be a ton of Wisconsin
makers there as well as from everywhere else on the map.
Ken.

Just change your name to Sintro and you're me! I've made one knife out of 1084 with a 1x30 grinder and I live in menomonee falls

You folks might split the gas and take a ride over to Janesville. Should be easy to search for. It's a knife show I believe put on by the Badger club. Maybe, take something along and if the different knife folks there aren't busy (important) at the time, you might ask for constructive criticism. I bet you'll have a great weekend.

Yup, the Badger Knife Show is always a good time. It's cheap to get in, too - $3/day, $5 for a 3-day pass. You can learn a lot by chatting with the makers there. Bring some extra cash and pick up some cool materials while you're there, too. (steel, leather, handle materials, books, all kinds of fun stuff will be available from vendors.)

I plan to be at the Badger Knife Show. Missed it last year and I've been kicking myself ever since. I'm in the same boat as you as far as what I've done. I've made a couple of knives so far and would like to see what it takes to take the next steps.

I'm down in Racine, btw.

Another option to consider is that JK is in Northern IL (I believe) and has had some gatherings here and there. I had wanted to make some of those, as well, but life has gotten in the way.
