My old neighborhood had a kid who was shooting a .22 in his backyard with at least six kids under the age of 8 running around outside. So much for a "family" neighborhood. Of course the police were called. Any kind of weapon is dangerous as hell, especially in the hands of a "punk". This is the same kid who burned down his shed a year ago. His house almost caught on fire from it and if it had, I may have lost mine too. Your neighbors are an accident waiting to happen. Get out of there fast. That's what we did.
