Making an effective nail file is a specialized technology!! I've seen/used some pretty effective ones, on older "gents" knives!! The top knife, a Sta-Sharp, and the bottom Schrade Cut Co, have long effective files, and they are class Stag Carries!!!View attachment 2142531View attachment 2142532
Both beauties, but the bottom one is very special.Count me in as a file blade lover. I find I use that tool often, especially after opening too many folders. I appreciate scissors too.
I might put that enamel Catt sailboat knife on my keyring tomorrow ..... or the next day.

I'm going to throw this into the atmosphere ... why not a SAK Classic?
SAK scissors to trim the offending fingernail?
Agree with the Classic/Classic SD/Signature/Mini Champ reccommendation. I keep mine on the keyring until needed.
I agree with the guys who recommend the nail file on the Vic Classic for overall effectiveness. It's a short file, but that random abrasive pattern is the most effective nail file I've ever used.
Another vote for carrying a SAK for the file and getting scissors as a bonus with either a Victorinox Classic, Executive or in this case an Ambassador. They get along great with GECs.![]()
I'm going to throw this into the atmosphere ... why not a SAK Classic? Just drop it in your pocket and your main carry will never know it's there.![]()
Beard combs and bottle openers are far more useful to me than a nail file. Carried a SAK Classic once, and keep one in my car, but have NEVER used the nail file. Used the tweezers, toothpick, scissors, and blade. For years I carried a Victorinox Cadet as my only slipjoint. I tent to mindlessly bite a nail when I'm working hard on something and find out latter I have a snaggle nail.
The file on that Cadet was by far my most used tool. I tend to carry a range of GEC, Queen, and Buck nowadays so I'm without a nail file but I keep one on my desk.
I would love to see GEC do a GOOD nail file as a secondary on a knife. They can usually fit a nice small screwdriver on the end.
They've done useless saws, beard combs, forks, more bottle openers than you can count, and have had some other weird implements in the past. Why not a nail file?
Wow, that's beautiful! Especially the bottom green one. Who's the maker? And if you know what's the handle material? For me it looks even better then GEC's hummingbird acrylic.Count me in as a file blade lover. I find I use that tool often, especially after opening too many folders. I appreciate scissors too.
