the AMK kit works really well....

i took out the instruction sheet and the whistle

added 4 more razor blades, a mini bic, 2 aquamira tablets, 600 grit sandpaper....

its amazing how much space that whistle takes up... taking that out freed up so much space that i am able to add more stuff and its still flatter than before...

i think i am gonna dump the compass as well , more space for my needs...

With all due respect, what methods do you have at your disposal for signaling without the whistle in the kit? That is usually one of the first items I make sure I have on me.

Agreed - keep the whistle, or put it on a cord around your neck (even better!)

Personally I would keep the compass as well.

They are well worth the space.

gentelmen, i am never without a whistle. ever....

i just dont want it in the kit....if i am not able to access my kit, it would suck if the whistle was in it...right?

so the fox40 micro carried on a ball chain around my neck or the one similar to the tops model flat style in my pocket on a laynard.

always have a whistle...noise is your friend in a bad spot....(most of the time)

i am keeping a compass, but it will be on my person as these little buggers are not all that accurate....

Liam Ryan, why not? I have had my dog tags , a whistle, mirror and "dog tag knife" on the same one for over 4 years and it's still going strong
