With the knife market slowing down what's everyone still hunting for?

Made my last knife purchase on Thanksgiving week end last year. I got my first ZT knife in years, the 0640, on a great sale. I haven t seen anything I am interested in buying since then. MAP pricing has killed some of my interest in online shopping. Also, Im realizing that for my uses, a quality folder can be had for $150 or less. And I already have plenty of those.

So a combination of external factors and internal interests have dampened my desire for another knife. At this time.
 
Knife market slowing down in what sense? Manufacturers/makers are not designing/making/selling as many knives as before? Or people are not buying as many knives as before?

My purchase pattern does not change much though I am now more selective. OTOH, I am holding off selling because I do not want to risk going out get the virus.
 
Waiting for GEC to get back to production. Looking for some custom slipjoints. Seem to be more than usual for sale right now.

If you like the Holt Specter check out the Edgar/Cole Chimera. They're $600 or so.
 
If the market is slowing down, it is temporary, and due to that Covid-19.

It will pick up as soon as people can go back to work, and the knife manufacturers forced to close because they are not considered an "essential business" by whatever state they are located in, can resume production.
 
I guess you know the market has really tanked when CKF Decepticon-1 Limited Edition midtechs are wallowing in stock at BHQ. A few years ago, folks were throwing a dozen bald Franklins for sloppy seconds with one of 300 of these in S35vn. Now they retail at 2/3 of the secondary market price in S90V and they're just sitting there.

This is one of my personal grails, so I did what I had to.

Decided to use this time to turn my accumulation into all custom/hand made fixed blades.
Down to two production folders.
Stimulus check is gone.
 
Picked up a Rex45 Para3 & a Siren last week. Waiting on a Bestech Ascot to be delivered. Gonna try & save up thru the summer with the hope of taking a vacation in early September.....if the medical situation warrants.
 
I’m in limbo right now trying to decide whether I should buy a Damascus Sebenza 21 or wait for them to resolve the lock flex issues on the 31. I think I’m going to hold out for a 31.

I am one of those not fad driven at all. I go against the norm since I am looking for a decent condition CS Spartan at a good price. Big, heavy, and loud deployment for this guy.

Want a Spartan too. Looks about perfect for hard-use EDC. Realistically though, I may go for the American Lawman next. I like the no-nonsense low-profile design.
 
I have a a sizeable collection that to me, and especially the wife, really doesn't need additions. But as of recently, I have stuck to discontinued models, limited editions or runs, exclusives etc. Also from what I have seen on here and the Bay that seems to be a wanted item and is in my personal style or interest. Usually must be with box and papers if used or preowned. I have a few that I am interested in, but as far as I can tell, nobody else is. Hmm, a conundrum. Would like to be able to get a decent value from what I have if need be, or the one recieving them after I croak.
