1. JK Knives Urban Spike Hawk with satin finish and safety orange G10 handles.
I purchased this new from the maker and have only used it to clear some cactus and cut a few small branches. It has the original edge (could use a sharpening) and includes an excellent custom Buy Brown sheath with large TEK-LOK as well as the leather sheath it came with.
This was the first variant of this hawk that John made as can be seen from the #1 stamped into the right side of the blade. There will be no disappointments with this hawk! Original sales thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/threads/the-urban-spike-hawk.950390/
As you can see from the photos there is some staining on the blade from cactus juice.
Specs:
Overall length:11 1/2"
Head: 6"
Cutting Edge: 3 1/4"
Thickness: 1/4"
Material: O1 tool steel
Weight: 1 lb. 12 oz.
I do not believe John is making these any longer and my price is a steal:
2012 cost of Hawk shipped directly from JK Knives = $362
Cost of sheath from Buy Brown = $60
Total invested = $422
I am selling for $122 less than what I paid and the price includes Paypal fees and USPS shipping in USA. If I know you, your personal check is fine. $300 all in.
I will not separate the BB sheath and JK hawk, thanks!
2. Derrick Wulf Imp Axe with cold blue finish and safety orange G10 handles.
I purchased this new from from the maker in 2013 and I believe this was one of the very first Imp Axes that Derrick made. I tested it out on a few branches and put it away. The cold blue finish is light and could have used another coat, but other than that there is nothing but positives about the Imp Axe. It provides a lot of cutting power in a very light package.
Further description from the Derrick:
I weighed your axe and it came in at under 20 ounces. I gave the tang a pretty aggressive taper and kept the handle nice and thin to help reduce weight and the end result is an axe that weighs less than some bowies but chops much more effectively due to its weight distribution. It's also a lot more fun to throw! Also I gave the handle a fairly smooth contour because aggressive textures, ridges, and valleys will create fatigue and blisters under hard use but I left the file cuts and natural textures in the G10 to provide a secure grip, dry or wet. I think the ergonomics and texture are well suited to a hard use belt axe like this. Remember this little axe isn't going to win any beauty contests but I think you'll be very pleased with the way it performs.
The current version of the Imp Axe sells for $340: http://www.dicksworkshop.com/gallery/available-work/
I paid $295 for this Imp Axe and am selling it for $100 less than what I paid and the price includes Paypal fees and USPS shipping in USA. If I know you, your personal check is fine. $195 all in.
