Had a few questions about how dark it is. Not jet black like ink but quite dark. Under good light you can still read grain in the wood, maybe a deep charcoal gray underlying the black but not overall grey and not brown. Not as black as African Blackwood which is really just like ink. Hope this helps. When I opened the tube I saw black, I have seen others and said, meh... grey
