This knife was purchased from the latest DLT drop last week. The knife was opened and I quickly realized it was not for me. I’d like to just get back whatever I paid so…

$550 and I’ll cover shipping

I’d also consider trades towards a 21 or an umnumzaan drop point.

In full disclosure I did adjust the pivot so I used the loctite to make sure it was set properly.

You seem quite new here so first, Welcome to Bladeforums. This is a great place to be for knives and great people in it.

Please don't take this the wrong way but have to ask the question, - Why would you take apart (at least remove the pivot screw) and open and add loctite when you "quickly realized it was not for me." ?

Perhaps this wasn't the best move and something to think about for future purchases. These knives in particular are hand tuned perfectly from the factory. Yes they do come a little stiff but they loosen up and smooth out fairly quickly and actually are some of the smoothest knives out there. Also quick tip - always good to take a few photos of the blade open and both sides.

In any case, thanks for at least being honest and GLWS.

I did so because it was not tuned very well from the factory. There was some lateral blade play when I recieved it and it was slightly off center so the pivot needed to be tightened. It took me a few hours to realize it wasn’t for me but the pivot screw I fixed immediately. Just odd timing and unfortunate that i didn’t realize that sooner.

Fair enough. At the same time I wonder if you got a super random dud because every one of Chris Reeve's Knives models ever received new from the dealers over the past 7+ years has been spot on. Never off center, never with any play whatsoever. Unlike other companies, CRK prides itself if top level quality and control, they are almost anal about it, which is a good thing.
Obviously this doesn't lessen the value of the knife but perhaps you should have contacted them right away as they have top notch service too.

I’ve owned dozens of CRK over the past 10+ years I agree with you that theyre very particular (thankfully) about tuning their knives. A lot of dedicated CRK fans would agree though that the attention to detail has slightly declined in the last 3-4 years and this is what I believe happened. It’s definitely not a bad knife in any regard. The reason I did not contact them is because I didn’t want to get warranty service for a brand new knife that I realized I didn’t intend to keep. Especially not when the problem was solved by just tightening the pivot. That’s why they give us the tools to fix simple problems like that and to maintain our own knives.

Either way the blade play is fixed and the knife is brand new just has some slightly used loctite!

You may want to check out this thread, because no brand is perfect. I agree that for the most part they're on point, but duds definitely can and do happen.

Obviously totally anecdotal, as is all our experience...
