I was just wondering how many of us are lucky enough to have a wife/girlfriend (or husband/boyfriend) that loves us so much that they spend their hard-earned money buying us knives?.

Yesterday my wife gave me $40 to buy a "used" Cold Steel Gunsite II Folder that was for sale here at BladeForums. (She knew by my constant "harping" [and showing her the picture in the Cold Steel Special Projects Catalog a "few times"] that I've wanted one for quite a while, to go along with my 5 inch Gunsite Folder.

.).

A Sad Update:

My CS Gunsite II knife arrived to my mailbox on Friday the 3rd. It sat there waiting for me for only about 75 minutes. (It was
"scanned" at 11:52, I arrived home from work at 1:05). In the meantime, some scum-bag thought (he) needed my package more than I did, so (he) stole it out of my friggin' mailbox!.

My wife handed me her "leisure account" bank card and let me use it to buy a Hayes Typhoon, and I don't even have to reimburse her! That's gotta count at least a little bit, right?

An old girlfriend bought me a Buck 110 back in the late 70's. We broke up about a week later. Guess I should have given her a coin!

My wife doesn't like my habit at all. She really dislikes knives. My current girlfriend could take it or leave it. My last girlfriend did buy me a knife for Christmas. I sure do miss her.

Dennis,
Maybeeeee it's all for the best that your wife doesn't like knives.

You are probably right. I am glad she doesn't like guns either.

Over the years my lady has bought me quite a few knives and guns.
a Kershaw Trooper, An early CS Tanto, an Aitor Jungle King 1, A Ontario Hells Bell to name the ones that I can remember right off the top of my head. She thinks that I am nuts, but she is supportive of my nutdome none the less. Guess that makes me a lucky guy!

Yep, last summer I spotted two 25 yr. old Wayne Goddard knives at a gun show in Bozeman Mt. As luck would have it, I fresh out of spendin money, so Audra (bless her lil heart!) made arrangements to get them, a week later there they were!!!...too cool!! I still have the second knife she made, I think that one is a keeper!! She is still packin the first one! Mike

Dang mike I am jealous .Not only do you have a wife that makes knives she gets ones from other makers. OH WOW ... does she have a sister ?

My wife has bought me a few over the years. Mostly very small knives, "what do you nee such a big knife for?" But I am setting her up to get me a Calypso Jr. Lightweight for Christmas.

Glockman,
You're one lucky guy!!
Actually, I have the same luck in this dept.

My wife has always been very supportive/understanding about my knife collecting.

She always listens to me carry on & on about this knife & that knife.
*Note-If I was her...I would have told me to shut up by now. But she never does.

She actually suggested taking a drive to a knife store today. Unfortunately, her suggestion was too late.
Can anyone say "raincheck"??? I know I can!!!
biggrin.gif

My wife always asks me what new knives that I am interested in when it comes to b-days & Xmas. She sometimes comments that I'm hard to buy for and that she is dissapointed in not being able to surprise me. I don't mind this one bit though. I always get what I want!!!

Comrade,
I was going to give you some advice regarding the girlfriend situation (IE-Get off the forums once in a while). Then it dawned on me that you are only 16 yrs old and you will have plenty of time for women.
Stay with the knives for now.
At least they will always remain beautiful.

I fully expect that this Christmas I will receive either an unknown pocket knife or one of those $7.00 multi-tools that throw all the implements out at you when you open it!She just doesn't get it.

I guess i'm one of those lucky one's. Eventhough i lost the first two knives she gave me, a gerber ez-out and a benchmade ascent, she still still buys me stuff. Actually the last one, and it's in transit right now, is an Al Mar Sere 2000.

Glockman99 is right, showing your wife a knife and telling her what a great looking knife this is, wish i can get one, i have to save for this, etc. will get you sympathy. Eventually she'll buy the knife for you.

Maurice, my mom doesn't care about my knives anymore. She used to hate them and make me stop buying knives and threaten to throw them away if I got anymore (my poor poor Buck Protege got confiscated long ago, but I stole it back). Then one day I sharpened all the kitchen knives until they all shaved. She stopped bugging me after that and learned to appreciate my hobby. My dad thinks my knives are good fun and my parents both are starting to like them now.

My brother used to think my knives were kind of strange, but I let him have an EDI Genesis II and he likes them now. He lost it about 3 months later after some HARD use (punching through steel cans and stuff). He now borrows my Benchamde 730BT occasionally.

Raptor, believe me, I tried getting off the forums and trying to hit on chicks. It don't work. I still don't have a girlfriend. The chicks simply freak out when I talk to them about my hobbies.

They think I'm into that kinky S&M stuff and... well... no luck after that. "Hey baby, want to see my Desperado? I want to sheath it in your Concealex!"

Comrade,
That Desperado is maybe a little too much knife for the first date. Eh??

Although...A push dagger is kinda' the idea.

Now isn't it???

Not long after we were married she got me a Puma Hunter's Pal in carbon steel, then nothing for over ten years. Then she finally saw the light, two years ago she got me a Buck Squire Master Series. This year she just asked me what knife I wanted for my birthday. Things are looking better all the time, she even bought me a rifle for Father's day.
