Wliderness and Survival Skills

Not to take the thread in a whole different direction, but I imagine that if our economy continues to move in the direction it is (which I happen to think it will), all these currently optional skills -- repair, maintenance, gardening, etc. -- will quickly cease to be so 'optional' anymore.

That isn't the main reason I enjoy learning the skills of self-sufficiency, but it certainly is worth keeping in mind.
