Wod that is too pretty

Have you ever started working on a piece of wood and exposed a pattern LONG before you get tot the point where the wood is the right size? I've started working on the burl edge bits of a piece of maple burl, and the patterns are just amazing. Problem is the piece is still about twice the size I need. I don't know what to remove next because it's all so eyecatching.

I may just have to find a way to let the handle taper up to this width.
