Hey Guys...

Well this was the very first American show I have attended, and I Must say it was a pretty decent show.

If the fall Wolverine show is anything to guage shows by, the next one sometime in January at the Novi Expo Center should be something to look forward to.

Seen a lot of interesting things,, tons of Marbles, and Randalls. There was a Huge variety of antique pocket knives, as well as a good assortment of factory hunters and tactical fixed blades and folders.

I walked away with only one knife,, a Cold Steel Master Hunter, which I got at a Very reasonable price. (A Prototype sheath is in the works as we speak..

)

As well as factory knives there were some Very nice custom makers, most I didn't know. I later found out that Darrell Hibbon was there, but never got a chance to meet him.

Jeff Diotte from LaSalle Ont was there with a small but beautiful assortment of his Pirhannas, several damascus hunters with Mammoth ivory scales. Seen several people drooling over these..

I did get a chance to meet a couple of BladeForum members.. Tmac and Chad are local Michiganders and by the looks of Chad's shoulder bag and Tmacs Sac of Goods there were Prepared to do battle with their wallets..!

Well, another well done show for the Wolverine Knife Collectors Club. Quite a section of custom makers and factory knives. It always suprises me, but shouldn't, how friendly and open all the makers are to questions and just shooting the bull talk'n about knives....very cool. Looking forward to the January show which is at least three to four times as big. I'm hoping for a good turnout of makers.

Eric..It was very nice to meet you too. Thanks for taking the time to talk knives, knife making, sheath making and family, I very much enjoyed our conversation. For those of you who haven't seen Eric's (Nomark) Concealex sheaths they are by far the best made sheaths of this type I have ever seen. Yes, I was doing battle with my wallet and loosing. Loosing to the knife making bug which I walked away with more material.

Eric mentioned a Mr. Jeff Diotte, well Jeff had a couple of the most awesome designed hunters I have seen. I think I circled his table three times looking at these Damasteel, filework, countured handle beauties of Jeff's (he probably could of charged me a fee or a handling charge for drooling over his knives

). His small Pirhanna style knife was also an impressive, effective design. I will have a couple of Jeff's knives in my collection soon. Looking forward to seeing more from Jeff at the January show. Eric..does Jeff have a email address?

Chad...It was very nice to have talked to you and met you and your family for breakfast, you have a very nice family. Thanks for the opportunity to handle your nice collection of Rinaldi's and Busse.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at the next show in January. Also looking forward to seeing the rest of you that weren't able to attend. Make sure to make some time so we can go out before of after the next show.

Have a good holiday season.

Take care,
Tom

It is with regret that I missed joining up with the forum crowd early on Saturday, as family obligations sprung up with delayed my arrival at the show until early in the afternoon.

It was a nice show, a bit "crowded" due to the smaller size of the hall, but well represented, especially Jeff Diotte's Pirhannas, those are some very nicely designed and executed knives. The father and son duo of the Diluvios were there in force with more examples that an eye to detail runs in the family. I can't remember the last time that I've seen that many Randalls in one place at one time. I was also pleasantly surprised to see some of the Busses starting to get into greater circulation. I was also very impressed with how nicely the Lightfoot Microtechs turned out.

I'm looking forward to the January show in Novi, and sincerely hope to meet you fellas there this time. There's this local microbrewer very close by called "Local Color..."

Truly sorry I missed you fellas this time, though.
